Man, woman and little girl in rube act which the only thing that is good is the girl’s dancing. The act is just about good enough to open the show in a continuous house; certainly is no better than that. 20 min in 2, they did not close in one which I was specifically told by Mr. Al Myers they did 3 shows.
This is without doubt the best of all the Jap acts I’ve ever played. It is an act bounding in contortion, dexterity and strength. They do more sensational stuff than any act I’ve ever seen. One a little boy in it, particularly, is the greatest ever. It is an act that at present will create more talk than any acrobatic act in vaudeville. Time 20 minutes full stage.
Ventriloquist. This man’s got a lot of good, bright stuff and is going as good as any of the ventriloquists I’ve played. He keeps his talking up-to-date, and seems to localize it wherever he goes, which, of course, always makes a big hit. He’s doing 18 minute, with 4 minutes in one.
Two young men, in a singing and dancing act with a little talking, We substituted this act for Howley & Leslie, who failed to materialize. Their singing and talking don’t amount to much, while the dancing is good. One of the boys is so homely he is funny. At the top of the bill they will be all right. Drop in one, 3 shows.
Young woman in a series of electrical dances. We were quite lucky in getting this woman on at this hour, as her baggage never reached the theatre until the last minute. She being the feature the greater part of the audience remained to see her. The various dances received some scattered applause, the fire dance getting the most. The act appeals to the lady audience, and while the applause appeared to be light I think they appreciated the act, although she has played this town so much one week here would have been enough. Full stage, 13 minutes.
Presenting their Irish comedy ‘In Trust.’ It is about the same as when played here before. They have a little new business, making a few extra laughs. The act is a good bit of Irish work and the audience greatly appreciated the comedy. 22 mins, full stage.
This man works in full dress, makes splendid appearance. His material is all new and bright, with some good parodies. In this place this afternoon he had them laughing and I really think he could make good further down. Drop in 1, 15 minutes.
Man and woman in a comedy juggling act, which is greatly improved since last here; the juggling part is better. He manages to break many plates thus securing the laughs. His encore in one is not long enough to clear, therefore, will have to place an act in one to follow. 11 minutes, full stage.
3 shows, 20 minutes, interior. This is not a good act. The little girl is fairly good, the mother does very little, which is not good, and the comedy of the father is very unwholesome. We were compelled to cut out four or five of his principle laughs which he said had never been cut before.
14 minutes, full stage. Special set. I do not consider this act nearly as good as Jewells. While it does not get nearly so much money as the Jewells, I would prefer to play Jewells at the advance figure. The act is only going fair with our patrons.
