Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Drew

2 shows, 23 min, full stage. Presenting for the second time here their dramatic playlet, ‘The Yellow Dragon,’ which we gave a splendid special stage setting of a Chinese pattern. The audience followed the action of the piece with intense interest and at the close they received three curtain calls.

Miles-Stavordale Quintet

2 shows, 13 min in 1. Four men playing on specially made banjos, the fifth on a harp, the songs produced claimed to be like the human voice, which, in fact, they are. It is the best act of the kind we play, and made a much bigger hit on this occasion than at any time during their previous engagement, as they were recalled again and again.

Adelina Roattino and Clara Stevens

2 shows, 16 min, full stage. This is a pleasing but not great act. In the matter of stage setting it has the element of novelty, which serves to carry it stronger than its merits otherwise would deserve. Miss Roattino is not so good a singer as formerly; flats considerably. Miss Stevens is a graceful and pleasing dancer. The turn really deserves a better place than I can give it though it is not up to our two-show standard.

Barrett & Belle

Man and woman in a comedy, entitled ‘The Policeman and the Maid.’ They introduce singing and dancing specialties. The woman is rather attractive, and has a pretty fair voice. The man is a good dancer. The act contains some laughs and is all right for an early place. 12 minutes.

Meakin, Lawrence & Master Dale

Two men and a boy. This is Meakin, formerly Meakin & McCart, who played the circuit. Master Dale is the boy who played with Francelli & Lewis. Lawrence don’t amount to much. One man and the boy impersonates wenches, the other straight. The act consists of talking, singing and dancing. They are all good dancers. Compelled to cut out some of the boy’s singing on account of a cold. The act is good and all right for an early place. Dp 1, 16 minutes.

Roltare

Card manipulator with little music. This fellow makes a good appearance, works in full dress. He only does a few tricks and does them well. He manages to get a lot of applause from a glass face clock that he uses, rather a novel tick. At the price he is all right for an early place. Can work in one, drop in 2, 17 minutes.

Radium Dance

This act consists of eight girls, and is hardly strong enough for a headliner. It is a novelty in its way, and the house must be kept absolutely dark to get any benefit from it. The act opens with some singing and dancing. Several of the girls make two changes in costume. The act was rather a disappointment to everybody. However, it’s not a bad act by any means, and if the act hadn’t been head-lined, it would have gone through all right. Time 10 minutes full stage.

Yorke & Adams

Hebrew comedians. These people have been over the circuit so much that everybody is familiar with them. Their stuff that they are using did not go at all Monday matinee and evening, so I had them change it and use as much of their old act as they could. At both performances yesterday they went very bad. Time 20 minutes in one.

O’Brien & Havel

Put in at the last minute because Burke-LaRue fell down. O’Brien is not working with Havel, but has one of the Lawrence Sisters with him. They present Will Cressy’s sketch ‘Ticks and Clicks.’ The audience seemed to like it and laughed heartily. Personally, I can’t see a great deal of the alleged comedy. Good act. 24 min., CDF in 3.

Dan Quinlan & W. Keller Mack

Dan Quinlan of Minstrel fame and Mack of Monroe & Mack. The act is a-la-Monroe & Mack, on a little better scale, but not as funny. Mack is doing the comedy end of it and gets away with it in good shape. They had a hard spot but managed to hold them and receive as many laughs as any other act on the bill. 18 minutes in one, 2 shows.
