Vassar Girls

20 minutes, open in 10 in one, close full stage. Eight young ladies playing brass and reed instruments and finish with their electric dance which is very effective. This act is much improved since we last played it and I now consider it a very good act. It is going very big with us.

Chevalier

22 minutes in one. Special drop which, by the way looks very cheap. Chevalier was a great surprise to us. He did not increase our business. While, of course, the weather was hot, our business should have been big owing to the extra advertising given to this attraction. Chevalier did not go big here, in fact he just about got away, everything on the bill going much stronger than he did. Personally, I cannot see why he should go big. While I admit he is not a good actor, I do not consider him great-neither do our patrons.

Gillette’s Dogs

This is a very good dog act. It is a pantomime, musical and leaping specialty. It opens in 3 with a steal from the Merian act, showing a cottage and presenting in pantomime an act similar to the elopement of the Merian act. Going to FS the dogs appear in a bell ringing act and a leaping specialty. 14 mins, FS and 3 min in 3.

Spissell Bros. & Mack

This is an exceptionally clever acrobatic comedy act, one of the few acts of the kind that is enjoyable every minute it is on the stage. The three men are not only good acrobats but their comedy is spontaneous and gets a laugh every minute. Although they opened the show it did not dampen their ardor. 10 mins, FS.

Celina Bose

This woman is a musical artist playing the xylophone and violin with a masterful hand. She has a magnificent stage presence and wears Paris gowns as if to the manner born. This is a high class act in every respect and a credit to vaudeville. 14 mins, open in two close in one. 14 mins.

Bert Leslie and Bob Dailey & Co.

This is one of the greatest comedy sketches we have ever had. The way that Leslie hands out slang is a treat. There is nothing rough about him and nothing the most refined person could complain of but his slang is a perfect marvel and his manner of delivering it is great. This act could close any show and hold all the people, full stage 20 mins.

Marcus & Gartelle

A very good opening act or could even go second or third on the bill. Their finish on roller skates is extremely funny and makes a big hit with the audience, full stage, close in 14 minutes.

Albert Chevalier

No criticism necessary. There is no doubt whatever but what his characters are not known very well through this section. The afternoon audience didn’t appreciate him at all, in fact, they couldn’t see his stuff. In the evening, however, he went much better. He’s been the best advertised head-liner that ever appeared in this city and how much business we’ll do remains to be seen. He is using 5 songs, and is doing 25 minutes.

Al Lawrence

Mimic comedian. While this man is good, in fact exceptionally so, from a three a day act standpoint, he does not seem to make the hit that he does in other houses and to us he is a three a day act. His place on the bill was a little too strong for him; should be on at least one-half hour earlier but I don’t see nay was of remedying the matter. 20 min. in one, 3 shows.

Blanche Sharpe

Soprano vocalist. This young girl has a pleasing manner and a fair voice. She sings two songs in dresses, and changes to male attire wearing the new U.S. uniform which is very pretty. Fairly good three a day act. 8 min. in one, 3 shows.
