Two men presenting a new talking act entitled ‘Happy Days.’ This act is entirely away from the others, and is one of the best acts on the circuit. The men carry their own drop, their talk is bright and snappy, their comedy excellent, and they scored one of the big hits of the bill. 22 min, with drop.
Cast of seven people presenting ‘Old Jed Prouty in Boston,’ a condensed version of Mr. Golden’s first great success ‘Old Jed Prouty.’ Comedian Golden and his company scored one of the biggest hits of the current vaudeville season. All the comedy and all the heart interest of the original comedy-drama has been boiled down to 27 min.
2 shows, 20 min, full stage. Favorite Boston actress, in the comedy sketch, ‘The Silent System.’ Got an advance reception when she came on and the sketch was followed with appreciative attention throughout. Will shift Miss Shaw and Gilette’s dogs for the rest of the week.
Two men and woman, present the farce, ‘Two Senators.’ Monroe has a new man in the act who I think is superior to his former partner. It was quite late when they got on and they managed to hold them until the finish. The act went fully strong as before, although it is the third presentation.
Man and two boys; genuine Cubans. First American appearance. Work in full dress. This act was little nervous this afternoon, being their first engagement after landing here on Thursday, after having spent thirty days on the water. They made a few slips. Every trick was strongly applauded, and I think, without doubt, it is going to be the strongest acrobatic act ever seen on any stage, They do tricks never attempted by anybody else. Full stage; twelve minutes.
Street in one. Two shows. Fourteen minutes. Hebrew impersonator and parody singer. His monologue does not amount to much. His parodies are fair. He has no legal right to obtain that salary, and there is no good reason why he should not work three shows.
Young girl. Child impersonator. Very pleasing personality. Imitations, with little dancing. Imitations very well received. Dancing fair. Splendid act for the three show a day section. Drop in one. Three shows. Thirteen minutes.
Boy and two girls. Violin solos. Good selections. Nicely costumed. Strongly applauded throughout. A feature for the three show a day section. Full stage, 3 shows, fourteen minutes.
Comedy musical and singing act. 21 minutes open full stage, close in one about 7 minutes. Miss Latona’s singing was the hit of the act. She is one of the cleverest in this line that we have ever played. The act as a whole is very big and I feel sure that on a return they would draw some money. I consider it one of the best acts in the business.
In ‘Frederic Lemaitre’ 30 minutes, full stage. Assisted by Frank Willard and Laura Hope Crewes. This is a very good sketch and very well done, the work of Mr. Miller being much better than that which we are in the habit of seeing in vaudeville. I am sure that he is going to inprove [sic] our business.
