2 shows, 15 min in 1. ‘In Fifteen Minutes of Fun And Vocalism.’ Got a good reception on their entrance. We were to have had the Empire Quartet for this place, but were disappointed at the last moment on account of illness. The Orpheus Comedy Four filled the place most acceptably. Won considerable applause.
2 shows, 23 min, full stage. First time here. In the comedy sketch, ‘A Timely Awakening,’ one of the brightest little sketches seen here for some time. The piece is capitally acted, Miss Hall being especially good. Went exceedingly well and could easily go further down the bill.
Presenting the comedy sketch ‘The Coal Strike.’ There is no plot to the act, therefore the name does not convey anything, merely a little talking, singing and dancing, with some burlesque acting. They manage to secure several laughs, although it is not strong enough to hold the stage at this hour. Twenty one minutes full stage, two shows.
First time here for this young woman, billed as the ‘American Vesta Tilley’ in vocal character changes. Has a pleasing personality, good voice and received a big lot of applause after each character. Fully able to go down further in the programme. Drapery in one, three shows, fifteen minutes.
The Comedian of the slack wire. I think this fellow gave us the best act of his life to-day. He received some advance applause and managed to make them laugh during his entire performance. An excellent three-a-day number. Full stage, three shows, fourteen minutes.
Four men, ‘Musical Barbers.’ Quite a novel idea, each number received a big lot of applause. Responded to several encores. Fully capable of holding down a better place. Full stage, with a short encore in one, fifteen minutes, three shows.
Singing, talking and dancing act. Time of act 14 minutes. Full stage, closes in one about three minutes. I consider this one of the best dancing acts that we have ever played. I cannot say much for the talking in the act in the act [sic] but taken as a whole it makes more than good.
Time of act 11 minutes, full stage. The muscular work of Mr. Treloar is great. I consider him on of the best in this line but do not consider the weight lifting good. His assistant, Miss Tempest, acts very much like an amateur which, no doubt, she is and I consider this hurts the act quite a little.
Presenting ‘Journeys End in Lovers Meeting.’ This is a clever little play and was cleverly acted, particularly on the part of Miss Shannon. I am doubtful as to whether Mr. Kelcey and Miss Shannon will draw very much money for they were never top-notch favorites in Detroit.
In an act called, ‘Happy Days.’ This is an extraordinarily good act, in fact one of the best of all the talking acts in one. They carry a special drop representing the entrance of a vaudeville theatre. It’s away from all the other talking acts, and it going big. Time 26 minutes in one.
