The Great Lafayette

2 shows, 40 min, full stage. Got quite a hand on his entrance. Started his act with lighting changes and then performed conjuring feats a la Ching Ling Foo. The orchestra he carried in this portion of the act is the only thing on which to criticize and that is certainly BEYOND the limit. Sounded like a fair crowd attracter. He next travestizes [sic] noted bandmasters, past and present, including Creatore. Secured the most applause at the finish, in proportion to the audience, that I have heard handed out to any act in this theatre for a long time. With the exception of the ‘band’ everything he does is above criticism.

Snyder and Buckley

Two men, comedy musical act, one man working straight, other as Dutchman. This act is well known on the circuit. Have been here three times in the past twelve months. Good strong act, with a strong finish in one, but they are dropping in here a bit too often. Went very strong to-day. 24 mins, CDF in 3. Closes in one.

Alice Davenport & Co

The company includes Alice Davenport, a man, two women and a little boy, presenting the one-act entitled ‘Now.’ The plot deals with a social difficulty. Mrs. Davenport playing the part of a French-woman and is very clever. The act is entirely dramatic, the company excellent. Intensely interesting and should make a hit over the circuit, more so in Philadelphia, where Mrs. Davenport with her husband controlled the Girard Avenue Theatre for several seasons. Received two curtain calls this afternoon and I believe it will go much stronger to-night. Nineteen minutes full stage, two stages.

Edwin Stevens

Clever versatile comedian, in his original entertainment ‘A night out.’ Received some advanced applause. The act is practically the same as when last presented, with a few new stories. Continual laughter throughout, closed strong. Twenty-one minutes, opens in full stage, closes in one.

Alexis and Schall

Man and women making a pretty fair appearance with singing, talking, dancing and some contortion work. The signing and talking or dancing don’t amount to much, the man’s contortion work is the strong hold, for which he received a big lot of applause. Good three show act, eleven minutes in one.

Spessardy’s Bears

2 shows, 14 min, full stage. This man has seven full grown bears, two cubs and two ponies in his troupe. They ride bicycles, wooden horses and breakfast, manlike. It is quicker in action than most bear acts and went very well today. Will try to get the children in during the week by putting it on after school hours.

Avon Saxon

3 shows, 10 min in 1. Baritone vocalist. First time here. We put this man in the place of Denny, who kicked about paying for orchestrations that he was short. Saxon is quite well-known about the city. He is only a fair vocalist, but secured considerable applause, more I think, owing to his being a Bostonian than his ability.

Albora Trio

3 shows, 14 min in 1. Three men, street singers, musicians and imitators of deep tone bells. First time here. The singing was appreciatively listened to and they secured a fair amount of applause for this spot in the bill. Will go better tonight, as our audiences fancy this sort of thing. Good 3-a-day act.

Mrs. John Fox, Jr., Willard Hutchinson & Co.

The company consists of Mrs. John Fox, Williard Hutchinson and man and a woman in the comedy entitled ‘Advise.’ This act was booked merely for the advertising as Mrs. Fox is well known socially. As an actress Mrs. Fox just about gets out, outside of the Hutchinson company doesn’t amount to anything. The act is alright for the circuit in the early place, it is interesting throughout and maintains many laughs. Full stage, nineteen minutes.

Morton, Temple and Morton

Man, boy and girl. Thought this act was a comedy acrobatic act, but it is an old time rough singing and dancing sketch, with a little acrobatic work. The girl is fairly good looking, while the man and boy are rather rough. They work as if they had thrown the act together in a few minutes. It is alright for an opener. Full stage, close in one, fifteen minutes. It just about passes in this place, will change them up further to-night.
