2 shows, 22 min, full stage. Assisted by Neil McCoy in the comedy sketch, ‘The Model Maid.’ Not much of a vehicle from any standpoint, and I should not want it to come our way again, although it secured laughs. I am strongly opposed to having ‘legitimate’ actors appear at this house in hashed up sketches that don’t amount to anything and never get any applause, for instance, H.V. Donnelly and May Vokes. Miss Vokes’s sketch fell flat at the finish.
2 shows, 15 min, full stage. This act opens with a boxing match between two canines which is quite laughable and then goes to the bell ringing. The act does not compare with some we have had; the animals did not seem to overwell [sic] trained, but nevertheless they managed to secured [sic] considerable applause.
Billed this man as the ‘Champion Singer of Coon Songs’ and the billing will stand as he is the best coon shouter we ever had as far as impersonation goes. In this tight place he received as much applause as any act on the bill. Seventeen minutes in one, three shows.
The company consists of Nina Morris, Summer Gard a Arthur Hoops, presenting the comedy ‘A Friend’s Advise’ Nina Morris is clever and the support excellent. The comedy is alright, with many good laughs. Took two curtain calls on the finish. Seventeen minutes.
Two men, Hebrew comedians. One straight and the other character. First time here. Good material and all new. Laughs throughout. Good voices and excellent dancers. Hit of the show up this time, will try and give them a better place. Seventeen minutes in one, three shows.
Singing Comedienne. This woman’s voice doesn’t amount too very much, her selections were very bad. Her closing burlesque German song just about saves her. Eleven minutes in one, three shows.
3 shows, 16 min in 1. Young man, a lively and energetic worker in vocalism, talk and impersonations. His singing does not amount to much, but his impersonations of Billy Clifford and George M. Cohan scored heavily for this late spot in the bill. It is a good act for the 3-show section.
2 shows, 19 min, full stage. In the farcical sketch, ‘Mr. and Mrs. Nagg.’ It has been commented on both in New York and Philadelphia. Fell away below my expectations this afternoon and did not seem to much more than PLEASE the majority of the audience. Perhaps it was the extremely hot weather. Got scattering applause at the finish.
3 shows, 12 min in 1. Man and woman, colored entertainers, in the usual singing and dancing specialties. Owing to a mix-up of some kind with the spotlight on their finish, their act fell flat this afternoon, but with that it is not any better than the average ‘coon’ act.
John F. Sully Jr., Mrs. Grace Sully, John F. Sully, Little Billy Sully, presenting ‘An Interrupted Honeymoon.’ Had it not been for the very clever work of the two boys this act would not be acceptable on any stage. As it was it went very well and the boys received considerable applause. 22 FS in one.
