‘The Minstral Girls.’ It will be very difficult to make these girls do three shows if they continue to make the hit as they did this afternoon. All their songs and dances were encored and on the finish they bowed three times. Will arrange to give them a better place. Thirteen minutes in one, three shows.
One of the best single singing turns that ever appeared on this stage. As a singer she can be compared Mme. Slapoffski but of course she is far better looking and more magnetic. 6 min, with the plush and a piano, 3 min in one.
Three men and two beautiful horses. This act is inferior to the riding act of Helene Girard or the Wentworth’s. Two of the men do graceful riding, and the third furnishes comedy of the most mediocre kind. 8 min, F.S.
Nina Morris, supported by Arthur Hoopes and Summer Gardis a melo-dramatic comedy sketch entitled, ‘A Friend’s Advice.’ Miss Morris is clever and her support excellent. The sketch is apparently written for laughing purposes only and with that and in view is a success. The laughter this after-noon was practically incessant and Miss Morris gained a frequent applause during the action of the play, Mighty good act. 18 min, F in 3.
The company consists of Miss Harrison, Richard Allen, and W.J. Phinney, presenting the comedy ‘The Lady Across the Hall.’ The sketch is thoroughly alright, except in one or two places, which are rather tame, thereby losing interest. Miss Harrison is good, but her personality is bad. The leading man, Richard Allen is not worth thirty cents. Phinney is good. If Miss Harrison had better support, the act would be a winner. Twenty-one minutes, full stage, two shows.
Fifteen colored vocalists. Great vocal number. Greatly improved since the trial shows. Monster applause throughout the entire act. Had this act down for 27 minutes, they only do sixteen minutes. Full stage, with about three minutes in one, two shows.
‘The Dainty Dancing Wonder.’ Very attractive young lady, magnificent costumes and a good toe-dancer. Opens the act in one with a song, her voice doesn’t amount too [sic] much, the dancing being the strong hold. Opens in one, about two minutes, entire act ten minutes.
Assisted by Beatrice Southwick, who makes a very attractive appearance. Baxter is a slack wire artist and juggler, his strong hold being bicycling riding on the wire. The number is excellent as a sight act for the three show section. Eleven minutes, full stage, three shows.
2 shows, 7 min, full stage. This act has been commented upon in the other houses and went big here today. In fact, went the best of any act. The wires used in the latter part of the act passed the observance of the audience and scored tremendously. Will move them up to the place occupied by the Ballatzer.
2 shows, 9 min, full stage. Quintet of European ring performers. Nicely dressed act and made an impression when they came on the stage. One of the women hangs supported by her feet and holds suspended the rings, bars, etc. on which the other women perform. With the exception on their finals, there is nothing remarkable about the act. Will close the show with them hereafter.
