2 shows, 16 min in 1. Parody singers and conversational comedians. Their talk is fair, being rapid, but a good deal of it has been here before. While they got a few scattering laughs they by no means went big. In fact, they hardly got by in this position. Will move them up.
2 shows, 24 min in 3. Farcical sketch, ‘A Fisherman’s Luck.’ Been commented on in the other houses, a lively little farce full of laughs and went extremely well today, Fair hand at the finish. Five minutes could be clipped for the early portion of the act to advantage.
2 shows, 15 min in 3. Two men vocal specialties, trick piano playing and imitations. The imitation of George M. Cohen went big and they are fairly good vocalists. Excellent act for an early 2-show position in this house.
3 shows, 12 min in 1. The American Vesta Tilley in vocal character changes. Well known on the circuit. Had some up –to –date popular songs that got the audience. Good act for the 3-a-day division. Could easily go further down the bill.
3 shows, 7 min. full stage. Quite a well developed man who gives a fair exhibition on rings, His time is rather short but he presents several new feats which let him out. For the 3-a-day division he would do quite well.
Full stage, thirty-two minutes. Presenting impersonations of noted musical directors. This man made a big hit in this act, getting applause after each impersonation and tremendous applause on his finish. Never heard such noise in the Union Square before. One big hit, nothing can follow him on this programme.
Full stage, twenty minutes. Presenting the comedy ‘The Pink Widow.’ This man is not giving us the same people as he rehearsed, although the new members are fully capable. Greatly surprised the way this comedy went, fully one hundred percent better than the trial performance. The lines are bright, the business funny and the laughs were many. Before the week is out it will whip into a strong comedy. Received two curtain calls on the finish.
Drapery in one, seventeen minutes. Man and woman, selection from ‘Trovatore’ in Italian, closing with an English number. Splendid appearance, gorgeous costumes, pleasing voices. Big applause during ‘Trovatore’ number and strong applause on the finish.
Drop in one, fifteen minutes. Leonard, formally Gilmore and Leonard and Halladay and Ward. The act is the same as presented by Gilmore and Leonard and I believe a little better. They have some new material and secured a big lot of laughs and closed very strong.
Full stage, nine minutes. First American appearance. This man opens with several poses on a white-column, making a very pretty effect, then attempts some hand balancing, on the pedestal, which he does nicely. He received frequent applause during the act and closed strong.
