Booker & Corbley

I cannot understand why these people have been a great hit in other places as I have heard and in no sense are they worth anything like the money we are paying them. I should rate them at about $125. They have a good idea which, in the hand of a couple of men like Callahan & Mack, would amount to something but these men are, in no way, equal to it. 17 min. in 2, 2 shows.

The Pryors

Musical act and dance work. As Mr. Pryor was decidedly intoxicated on his first turn (which fact was not known until he got on the stage) we didn’t get as good a presentation of their as usual. Am trying to straighten him out for the next show but do not know what success I will have here. Today they did 10 min, opening in two closing in one, 3 shows.

Holeman Brothers

Comedy bar act. I was very much disappointed with this offering as it in no sense reached, in work on the bars or comedy, what I had been led to expect. I also understood there were three men in the act and on getting here only find two. Probably one of them had dropped out and I should like to be informed on the subject. Their time is very short also so there is evidently something wrong about the act. 7 min, full stage, 3 shows, although they claim they are only engaged for two and did only two in Philadelphia last week.

Paul Conchas

This man’s work was reviewed in Boston. He is undoubtedly marvelous, and created a sensation here to-day. As good an artist in his lines as Salerno is in his. The comedy assistant aroused lots of laughs, due largely I think to the fact, that the audience was keyed up to such a tension that anything humorous came as a relaxation. Will be the talk of Philadelphia. 23 mins. Gar in 4.

Village Choir

This act is a great favorite with our audience, and the advance applause was strong. While we have had better singers, there is no singing act playing this house that is so much commented on as this one, their work seeming to strike a responsive chord with our people. Always a hit in this house, and today was no exception. Could play here at least four times a year. 16 min. Road Landscape in 1.

Joe Reichen & His Dogs

The balancing feats performed by these dogs are marvelous, and duplicated by no other dog act that we have ever played. To say that the act created a sensation to-day, is to put it mildly, as it was without question the hit of the bill up to this point. Great improvement even since his last visit. 10 mins, Gar. 3.

Bloom & Cooper

In their well known playlet, ‘A Picture from Life.’ While this act [sic] well known on the rest of the circuit, this is the first time for it in this house. Bloom is without a doubt the best tramp delineator that we have yet had, and his work was thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated by to-days audience. Was the laughter and applause hit of the show up to this point, and without question will be one of the features of this week’s bill. 22 mins. Water landscape in 3. Blind close in 1.

Colonial Septette

Act is well known on the circuit. Four men and three women. Instrumental musical act, with a little singing that is weak. While the act went well, it did not go half as well as I expected and was far from making a hit. The audience seemed very cold to the whole show and this may account for it. Special scenery. 23 minutes. Open and close in one.

Five Pirocoffis

Four men and one woman. Comedy juggling act styled after the Agoust Family. These people are much more versatile than the Agoust Family. Their juggling is much better and of greater variety. The act is not dressed as well but seems to please just as much. Some of the individual work was extremely clever. A very good act. Palace in 5, 8 minutes.

Winona Winter

Vocalist, billed as the Alabama Rose Bud. Sang thee songs, gave a few imitations and closed with a little ventriloquil work. Just about strong enough to hold down this place on the bill. Received a little applause. 13 minutes, drop in one.
