Bertina & Borckway

2 young ladies, singers and dancers. Well known for contortion work although a bit awkward. Managed to secure some applause. Voices don’t amount to anything. Brockway is a soft-shoe dander and managed to hold the end up fairly good. They received some applause on the finish. The act is alright to put on before 2 or 8 o’clock. 12 min in one, 3 shows.

O.K. SATO

First appearance in years. Had nothing new in the way of material. Only change is the make-up. He received some scattered laughs on the comedy work. The strongest part of the act is the encore and one. Getting entirely too much money. 15 min, full stage, close in one about 4 minutes, 2 shows.

The Darrows

Finger shadows. Sand and smoke pictures. Well known. The act remains the same as presented before. They received several small laughs. Alright for an early place in the three-show section. 14 min, full stage.

Garnella & Harris

Man and woman. Acrobatic comedy. Woman just about passes as a vocalist. Garnella is well known for his contortion work. The act went fairly good and is a good opener. 16 min. close in one about 2 minutes, 3 shows.

Jewell’s Manikins

2 shows, 21 min, full stage. This is not the proper position for an act of this sort. We were unable to work them earlier owing to their late arrival today. It is an exceptionally good act of this sort, and we will close the show for the remainder of the week in the afternoon with them and gather what juveniles we can after school hours.

Lew Sully

2 shows, 17 min in 1. Monologue and singing comedian. This man had a line of material that I can’t understand how it got by in the other houses. It is practically impossible to convey a correct impression his remarks created as they were blurted out. I cut what matter I could and explained the rest to him. I think it would be a good idea for the other houses to watch him closely.

Marshall P. Wilder

2 shows, 17 min. in 1. Well-known humorist. He gave us practically a new line of material today and while he got considerable laughs, the manner it came forth from the audience forces me to the opinion that it was entirely out of sympathy. Got a good hand on his entrance and a fair one at the close.

The Armstrongs

3 shows, 11 min, full stage. Three young men, two working straight and the other in eccentric makeup, in a comedy and trick bicycle riding. Their trick bicycle is good but their comedy is nothing much. It is an excellent act of this sort for the 3-a-day section nevertheless.

Stuart Barnes

This man is unquestionably the star of the bill. He is among the best, if not the very best monologue entertainer we have today. He has a lot of new bright stories and songs rendered in an intelligent manner and made good thoroughly in a hard place on the bill. 16 min. in one, 2 shows.

Agoust Family

There is no gainsaying that these people are a great bluff in everything but their artistic finish. Not one of them is in the slightest degree a clever juggler but they make the people believe that they are very fine before they get through with them although they didn’t make the hit which their salary demands. There is no reason, in my mind, why they should be getting within $300 of the figure they are. 18 min, full stage, 2 shows.
