Prima Donna Soprano. She is in excellent voice, has improved since she was here in November. Makes a fine stage appearance; selections acceptable and makes good. All in one. Time 10 minutes.
There is no question as to the drawing power of this feature but it created no sensation with the audience. Nobody stood up and yelled and the riders managed to get a curtain call which was not at all forced upon them by the audience. It is one of those things that people expect a great deal more than they really see, however, it is pulling business and that is all we want. 10 min. full stage.
Man and Woman in a comedy singing and dancing act. The early part of this act is rather tame but they finish well, the feature being Miss Wrights endurance dancing on one foot. It is a good act in a small way but hardly strong enough for the place I am obliged to give it. 14 min. in one.
Acrobatic comedians. These men are entitled to credit for one thing if for nothing more and that is there [sic] immaculate gaul for stealing bodily the act which Caron and Herbert have done for years, and they added to it a little of the work of the Flood Brothers and one or two others and have not introduced a single idea of their own and at that, the act is only fairly done. I don’t want to play it again. 16 min. open full stage close in one.
Japanese Operetta. This is a very pretty idea, poorly carried out. They have a very fetching scene of there own including some set-stuff and the music is really very nice but not well rendered. The comedy is very poor, still on account of its novelty is preferable to the old stereotype acts which we get in the three a day sections. 18 min. full stage.
Man and woman in an act of singing, dancing and banjo playing. The man is fairly good but the woman is very amateurish. In a small way it may be classed as fairly good. 14 min. open in two close in one.
Colored team about as good as the average. I think we are getting too many of these acts therefore there is no novelty to them. 14 min. open two close in one, can work entirely in one.
“The Modern Witch.” While blindfolded she does rapid calculating in a way that surprises her auditors. It is a turn that will cause people to talk after they have left the theater, in consequence of which it is a drawing card. 22 minutes full stage.
20 very pretty young ladies with Miss Stella Kiralfy and Mademoiselle Morena as premiers. It makes a big looking act. Miss Georgia Dongain sings one song, she has a very sweet voice. Chorus and dancing by the ballet. Full stage. Time 18 minutes.
Musical extravaganza. “One summer’s day”. They do a very refined musical act, both Mr. West and Miss Van Siclen, are good musicians and make a fine appearance, handle their instruments well and make a hit with the audience. What little comedy they have is good. West is a good singer. Full stage, close in one. Time 21 minutes.
