Exterior in 4. 14 minutes. Commence their acrobatic act with conventional comedy and tumbling but close with one of the best burlesque on “two strong men” ever seen in vaudeville—therefore they finish strong—if they had a good start their act would be great.
Two men and a woman, one of the men making up as a clown and the other as a ringmaster, while the woman does a very fair trapeze act. These people have good material and some clever animals, and if the alleged comedy were eliminated and a better finish secured, their act would be in a class all by itself. 18 minutes, full stage.
Presenting ‘The Baron’s Love Story’. Comment seems unnecessary as this act has been meeting with success wherever produced, and this house was no exception. This morning’s Leader in speaking of the act said, “This sketch is the most artistic ever produced at the Empire.”
Two men, one is armless. He does a number of things with his feet, such as shooting, playing sleigh bells, carpenter work. 20 minutes, full stage, close in one. Fair act.
This animal act is one of the leaders. It contains more trained animals than any other turn that has ever played this theater. Its comedy features are unmatched. 23 minutes all stage. 3 minutes in 1.
A very pretty one-act American-Japanese opera. Four persons are employed in its interpretation—one man and three women. The scenery, all of which is carried for the production, is beautiful and rich and the costumes are expensive and artistic. The acting and singing are very good. 24 minutes full stage.
2 shows. 20 min. Land in 3. Close in one. Town men in an acrobatic comedy act, one working straight; the other grotesque. A good acrobatic act under ordinary circumstances, but after the Bros. Freydo seemed rather tame. Their comedy at the finish saved the act.
3 shows. 15 min. st. in one. Colored man and woman doing Johnson and Dean’s act. Their wind-up with the shutter dance saves them in their place on the bill. I do not consider them as good as Johnson and Dean, either in singing or dancing.
2 shows. 10 min. gar. In 3. Two men in a hand holding act; was the hit of the show. They have every hand balancing act in the business skinned a mile. Their gracefulness gave a finish to the act that brings applause after each stunt.
2 shows, 19 min, open full stage. Close in one. Made the laughing hit of the show, due largely to the fact that they are new here. The juvenile is the hit of the act, although the man is quite clever “Silence and Fun” performer. The woman does not amount to much.
