Calls his half dozen dummies a “marionette theatre.” His mouth can be seen moving from the orchestra. A couple of “walking” figures were the best thing he had to offer.

His appeal is his genuine ventriloquism. Holds the stage too long, his arm is positioned awkwardly on the sofa and his handling of a newspaper with one hand is bad. Makes better use of a cigar than most by letting smoke come out of his mouth when he speaks but holding it back as the dummy.
