Arthur Prince

20 mins. This was his first appearance in this house and he scored an emphatic hit. There is no question but what he is the absolute master of the art of ventriloquism and not only a wonderful artist in this line, but a comedian who knows the value of good comedy lines and how to use them to advantage. He kept the laughs going steadily through his act and at the finish the audience rewarded with applause which lasted through three curtains.

Arthur Prince

30 minutes f.s. Special set. Without question the greatest ventriloquist who ever played this house. Dresses as an officer in the Royal Navy, with his dummy clad as a sailor, and using a scene showing the deck of a British warship. Has a great line of material, every bit of it original, and kept the audience laughing every minute. Closed very, very strong.

Howard

21 min. F.S. The Scotch ventriloquist is doing a better act than ever. His handling of the two wooden figures and cross fire talk is excellent and he had no trouble in keeping the laughs going all the time he was on the stage. For a finish in one, he gave a series of imitations with the assistance of one of his dummies and this with a song registered a solid hit. The applause warranted his taking several bows.

Ray Randell & Co.

Ventriloquial novelty, 12 min, F.S. Special drop, 2 men. Fairly clever ventriloquist, yet not so capable as some we have had here. From a scenic standpoint the act is very good, there bring an abundance of pretty scenic, and clever mechanical effects. Went well with the audience.

Whittle

A ventriloquist and a very good one.  Judging from the way he went this afternoon, he is the best hit for his kind of an act the house has had excepting Tom Edwards only.  He made a good impression the minute he came in sight and he held them without any trouble all the way through.  Took three bows at the finish.  14 minutes.  Special set.

Vernon The Ventriloquist

On at 2.37, open in 1, 5 min, close full stage 12 min; 17 min in all. One of the most obliging reformers in the business. When he was asked to open in 1 today, instead of closing, as he usually does, he acquiesced without a murmur. It is a pleasure to state that his act was one of the hits of the bill, and could stand a much better place. There is no better value for the money than he gives. If we were playing him two, or two fifty, I do not think that anybody would complain. His stuff is almost entirely new this season, and is full of bright points.

W.E. Whittle

This man has a rather a pretentious production, carrying a scene representing an Army Camp, he himself made up as Roosevelt in Rough Rider Costume and some of the characters in soldiers uniforms. He is a very good ventriloquist and got away in this position in good style. 18 min. full stage can close in one, I believe, 2 shows.

Coram

12 min. in one.  English Ventriloquist – very English.  Works with dummy something after the fashion of “Prince”.  Coram is artistic but handicapped both by his English dialect and some mannerisms which destroy the illusion of the dummy doing any conversation.  Coram frequently fails to get over the footlights but in spots his act seems to please.  It is not a great act.

Trovollo

2 shows, 16 min, open in 3, close in1. Well-known ventiloquil [sic] comedian, who has been commented upon from the other houses. It is some time since we have had a ventriloquil [sic] comedian, and as a consequence together with the fact that he has very bright material, this man went exceedingly well in this spot today. By comparison, he is not up to Reynard for this house. Cut story about the young lady from Cincinnati who is to occupy the room next to him and ‘Come on with me.’

Ed Reynard

Ventriloquist. In an act almost entirely new, and the greatest novelty, in the way of ventriloquail acts I have ever seen and the audience were not slow to recognize that they were getting something new with merit. This man is entitled to all the credit in the world. 21 min. full stage, 2 shows.
