Fields and Wooley

GRR. Two men in a Dutch talking act. This is the first turn after the big show section and they had a pretty stiff place in the bill. First half of their act went fairly good on account of people shifting around and going out. The last half, after the audience got settled down in their seats again, went very strong. 16 minutes, in one.

Fisher and Carroll

15 min. in one. Two men, one eccentric and one straight, in an Irish talking act. We reserved the song “Mr. Dooley” for this team, although four separate acts wish to sing the song this week. Think this selection was a wise one.

Mitchell and Love

GRR. Two men in the regulation sidewalk conversation act, one of them made up straight and the other as a Dutchman. They are not especially strong in this place on the bill, but will be all right in the early part of a show. They are not bad at all, but there has been so much talking ahead of them that people are somewhat tied when they are reached. I think they will go better tonight as they get on early. 17 minutes in one.

Lamar and Gabriel

Talking act of which little Gabriel is, of course, the feature and I consider the hit they make is probably due to his size and also to the fact that he is a resident of Providence. 15 min. in one.

LaMar and Gabriel

2 shows, 15 min. in 1. This team did not arrive until late, having missed the train in New York. I was obliged to shift them and Lew Hawkins in the afternoon show. The little chap, Gabriel, is working in white face, and in my opinion is funnier than ever. They made a solid hit.

Conroy and McDonald

Irish talking act. Put in to replace Bicknell and Watson who disappointed without notice of any kind. Conroy and McDonald have not made their appearance up to this writing. Will report on them later.

LeRoy and Woodford

Man and woman in a talking act in which the bulk of the work falls upon the man. It is by no means a big act and is hardly strong enough for the place they had on the bill, still they went very well even better than I expected they would and if they could be got on in a bill before 8:30 I think they would make a hit. 17 min. in one.

LaMar and Gabriel

GNH. A man and a midget in a talking act. Gabriel the midget is working in a white face this time and in eccentric make-up. They have quite a bit of talk that is new to them, although the most of it has been done by other performers, but Gabriel’s size enables him to get away with it all right, and the act made about as big a hit as it ever did in the house. 15 minutes in one.

Maddox and Wayne

Street talking act in one. Very fair performers. Their stuff is funny and new, most of it, and they have introduced some clever comedy, using the house actor to great advantage. As a whole, they please very well. Time 19 minutes.

Howard and Burke

Two men in a talking act. One of them made up eccentric and the other straight. They have an original way of working, and while not particularly strong they go very well indeed, and I think will go much better when they get a decent audience to work to, the audience being very dead this afternoon. 13 minutes in one.
