Sam Drane

Coon songs and impersonations: He is rather in [sic] inferior performer, his work bordering very closely on mediocrity. In Philadelphia besides being rather weak he was an offence, but I think they must have cleaned him up considerably over there, for we saw no indication of that here. It will be a pretty good act to let alone hereafter. 13”in 1.

Goergia [sic] O’Ramey

A young woman with a very good voice, who does a turn of character songs. She first sings a Chinese song, then a coon ditty, and closes with an English comic song. She is quite good and will do well in a more important place in the bill. 11 minutes in one.

Elizabeth Murray

In 1. Time 14. A distinct success in Irish and Negro dialect songs.

Sandy

Boy Scotch singer and imitator of various sounds. He gets by most particularly on his size and pleasant personality. 12 minutes in one.

Lexey & O’ Connor

In Smart Songs and Dances. Man and woman. Singing and dancing; Chinese song with costumes. Received a good hand at finish. 10 min in one.

Clarice Vance

Coon songs. She had three new songs and one old one, and it goes without saying that she made the same impression here that she always does, which is very good. 11 minutes, in one.

Clarice Vance

Singing coon songs. Her act is about the same as it had been before, and does not please the audience, as well due to the fact, I believe, that rag-time music is on the wane. Her act cannot now be considered as good as it was in the past. 10 min. in one. 2 shows.

Della Fox

HRR 2. Her name was sufficient to give us the best matinee we have had in a month. Opened with a dainty Japanese song. Changed to a boy’s costume for two songs. All went well. She does not close in one – we were told she did – hence a wait. 12 mins. C.D. Pal. 2.

The Golden Gate Quintet and Fanny Winnifred

2 shows, 18 min. open in 2, closes in 1. Lively quintet of “real coon” singers and dancers. Could stand for a much better place in the bill than it is possible to give them this week. Held the audience remarkably. Just the same should never have got out of the 3-show section.

Clarice Vance

A singer of Coon Songs. Her acts goes very good, in fact, Cleveland audiences always take kindly to her style of work. She is really the first Coon singer we have had in the house since it has been opened, consequently she has had everything her own way. She went so strong in the afternoon that I was obliged to put her down in the place of Jack Gardener. Act, 12 minutes in one.
