Man, 2 women. Time 20. In 3 spec. They present character types, Italian, Scotch, tramp and Irish, with a rapidity that approached the protean class. Their songs are very clever and splendidly done. They have a distinct flavor of the English music halls in mannerisms. Went strongly.
15 min. in 1 ½. Miss Glose is a charming entertainer and a great favorite in Philadelphia. Each one of her character selections with various changes of costume got good applause. She will no doubt go even better with our evening audience. Is doing practically the same act as she did here in August. (At our request.)
Character songs. All right for the amount of money paid but would not want to recommend her for the big time. 13 min. in one.
Went well. Young miss in character changes and songs. Good wardrobe. Does imitations of Anna Held and Bessie McCoy and closes with a neat little toe dance. A very good number for the small time. In one. Time 9 min.
Vocalist in character songs. Finish with straight song. Good vocalist and gets lots of laughs. A repeat here and yet her work was well received. In one. Time 9 minutes.
18 min in full stage. This girl’s last number an imitation of Belle Baker who played here last week, put her over to a good hand. Up to that time she created little interest.
Two girls with a number of costume character songs in one with a finish with a scene in F.S. with very effective drop in black and white. They have some pretty good songs and there has been some work done on this act that is entitled to credit but you cannot take a couple of ordinary chorus girls and give them material and expect it to go over. In the hands of a couple of good performers it would be a good act, as it is, it is acceptable but it is not worth anything like the salary they are receiving. 12 minutes in one. 3 minutes FS.
12 min. in one. Called ‘The Girl of Many Voices.’ Here is a girl with a brand new idea for introducing imitations of stage celebrities. She uses several well known stars as subjects but injects an entirely new comedy vein by imitating them as birds and animals making it very funny. She also sings in four distinct voices. This is a real novelty singing act and registered a solid hit.
12 minutes, F.S. Open music room. Close in one. Olio drop. Here is a very clever girl with a good line of material, but unfortunately she opened with a song called ‘I’ve Got a Live John Now,’ which is pretty strong for this house, and after that had difficulty in getting the audience. She is toning this song down, has nothing to replace it with, but claims she is having another song written. She does impersonations of Irene Franklin, Eddie Foy, Eva Tanguay, and others, is certainly clever, and looks like a comer.
A former Philadelphia schoolgirl giving extracts from legitimate pieces and imitations of stage stars introduced by a few bars of song between each number. 12 min in one.
