The Gregsons

A young boy and a girl in a singing and dancing act. The idea is about the same as that of the Gleesons, although naturally that act is not nearly as good. They are both good looking young people, however, and dress very neatly, and among the openers it can be classed as a good, useful turn. 11 min. in one.

Herbert Hefferman

Went fair. A lad of 13 years in songs and dances. Will please the juveniles. Songs in character costume and changes for each. Dance, good. In one. Time 11 minutes.

The Gregsons

Song and dance in 1. Both are quite awkward and stiff. If they limber up a little bit and apply some more grace it could make a nice act for one. Their wardrobe at times was quite pretty and again stiff. It can only be classed as fair.

Clifford and Hall

A man and a woman in a singing and dancing act in which they introduce a little alleged comedy. They are neat dressers and sing and dance very nicely indeed. It would be pretty hard to discover the comedy, but as there are only a few lines of the dialogue it does not interfere especially with the act, and it can be classed as a fairly good turn. 20 minutes; open in 2, close in one.

Gladstone Sisters

A couple of young girls who first appear in short dresses, rather neat makeup, and so a song with a little dancing. They then do a dance, playing their own accompaniment on violins and complete with the acrobatic work which is usually introduced by “sister” acts. It is a good act of its kind. 10 min. in one.

Garrity Sisters

Two young girls in a song and dance act. They are quite lively, very good dancers, make a modest appearance, and sing as well as any performer who tries to dance, as dancing invariably ruins any voice. This act is a good three-show-a-day turn. 10 minutes in one.

Reda Kaufman

A young girl who does a couple of songs and finishes with some toe dancing. The act does not amount to very much, but it got quite a little bit of applause (especially the toe dance) and, while it would not do for the circuit at all, with the thermometer in the 80’s it is all right for an opener, in New York at least. 7 minutes, open full stage, and close in one.

McMahon’s Watermelon Girls

Composed of eight women and two men. They are all good dancers and singers and work exceedingly well together. Several changes of costume are made and all of the scenery that is used in the act is carried for the production. The turn is a splendid one and worthy of being the feature of any bill. 11 minutes full stage.

McMahon’s Watermelon Girls

This is the second week for this splendid act and it is going big. Instead of the Mississippi river scene (illuminated steamboat) employed last week, a drop showing a passenger train (illuminated) is used. It is a pretty picture and gets a big hand. The act is A1 and a winner in every respect. 12 minutes full stage.

Watermelon Trust

30 min. full stage – Consisting of three women and two men, all half coons. The comedian is a clever chap, sings fairly and dances well, but none of the others have singing voices, two of them dance fairly. The act went big with the back portion of the floor and balconies, but did not make any favorable impression on those in the higher priced seats. They are best in ensemble work, for which they were applauded all round.
