Man and woman. Man with Western Union messenger makeup; woman with tights and soforth. An act made up principally of high class singing. The man is the best performer of the two, but the woman is by no means a bad singer. The vein of a comedy running through the act is quite good. Good three a day act. 15 mins, CDW. 2 2 ½ 4 mins. Olio 1.
Singing comedienne. This girl, with proper training, and a little more experience should do first rate in the three a day class. She is all right to play in the very early section at the salary she is booked. 11 min in one, 3 shows.
Vocalist billed as a singing comedienne. The young lady possesses a very deep voice. Neatly gowned and has quite a winning way, but did not seem to make a great impression on the audience this afternoon although I can see no reason why she should not go well. However, the applause was lacking and the majority of the audience were reading their programs. A good act for the money, but evidently not strong enough for this position in this house. She worked hard and deserved applause. Drapery in one. 12 minutes.
The singing of this quartet is very good, the voices blending nicely. Some of the comedy is pretty punk and on the roughhouse order. The holiday crowd thought them immense and thereby making a tremendous hit. 21 min. in one
Song, Comedy and Travesty: 16 min. in 1. 3 shows. Well known on the circuit. Man and woman, both working straight. The songs are well selected and sung well, even though Miss Andrew’s voice is very weak for such a large house. Murphy’s fun is of the funeral style and managed to score quite a few laughs. Close after the burlesque operatic selection is good.
Man in this act is quite clever, opening with a laughing song, which pleased immensely. He is sort of a mimetic comedian, giving various conceptions of human life from child to old age, which secured a big lot of applause. Woman makes a very nice appearance, but does not amount to a whole lot and her vocal work just about pleases. Act on the whole is alright, if on about 9 o’clock. 12 min. in one – 2 shows.
Singing comedian. This man got them on the start, his vocal numbers going very big, making the applause hit of the show up to this time. 15 min. in one- 3 shows.
Refined Comedy. 13 min. Op, in 3, close in 1. 3 shows. Man and woman, the latter a pretty face and figure, with good voice and selection of songs. Makes a very good opener. Marion’s dialect stuff especially well. There was a good line of talky which brought scattered laughs. Went off to a good hand and received curtain-call. O.K. for even a better spot on the bill.
3 shows, 14 min. in 1—Two men, talking comedians and parody singers. Most of their parodies were strongly applauded and what little talk they do, is bright and witty. I will move them into the spot occupied by the Barrows for the balance of the week.
3 shows, 15 min. in 1—Monologue singing and dancing comedian and storyteller. Perhaps it was owing to the weather, anyway I will give the man the benefit of the doubt, but our audience could not see this fellow at all today. To me, he has neither personality nor ability. Of course, this is a very poor spot on the bill but judging from what he did here, this is the proper place for him.
