“Christmas on the Island”. There is no gain saying that this is a good act, but the remains that it has been seen too often to be of any value. The men have played their parts so long that they have grown mechanical, the only real unction being found in the bass. The act costs too much money for what we get out of it. 18 Min. in Two.
13 min. in one. Act consists of parodies of well known songs. One works straight, the other eccentric Hebrew. Second appearance here. Made a mistake in singing a couple of numbers that have been done here, but are going to put in their old medley of parodies tonight which will go much stronger. Received fair applause and held the spot.
Kentucky minstrels. Singing and dancing. Went good though this was a hard spot for them to hold up.
Rapid fire songster, 13 minutes in 1. May [sic] anticipations were fully realized in this act. He scored a big hit.
1.23 min. Good singing voice and pleasing personality. Comedy rather weak.
In a comedy singing sketch, “The Substitute”. This pair of players have not the slightest trouble in getting into the good graces of the audience. They hold its attention throughout and finished strong. The act was eminently satisfactory in every particular. C.D.F. in 3, 24 minutes.
22 min. in one. This is a mighty good team. Both of them are excellent comedians. One of them has a good voice and sings a new line of songs that are extraordinarily good. The act is full of surprises. On the whole, their work is commendable for the novelty and spontaneous fun. Closed strong.
I was most agreeably surprised with this act, especially with Whiting’s work, who has developed into quite an eccentric comedian and was received with distinct favor. 22 Min. in One.
Singing comedienne. Her first two songs were moderately well received, and from this point on she became stronger and stronger, and finished in a distinctly favorable manner. She could easily have given another number. Olio in 1, 16 minutes.
