C.A. Murray & Co.
17 min F.S. A fairly clever sketch in which Mr. Murray takes three characters. Some of the lines are bright, and the act on the whole is fairly good in character humor, though not an act for a spot further down. Got a fairly strong closing hand after a rather weak finish. Just about gets by in this spot.
Sam Mann & Co.
“The New Loader.” This is a bare stage act with a morning vaudeville rehearsal in progress. Sam Mann, in the role of a German loader, has the audience fairly howling with laughter all through the act. Act is rather rough at present and needs to be chopped way down to within a decent running length as it drags considerably towards the finish. Moved from #4 to this spot and held it tonight in good shape. Bare stage, 38 min.
Johnny Stanley & Ruby Norton
Bits of Vaudeville. Moved from #6 to this spot. I may be prejudiced but I never could discover any ability as a comedian to Stanley, though I have suffered myself to sit through his act at various times and places. Apparently the audience this afternoon was of the same mind for the act died absolutely. In justice to Stanley it should be stated that the edge was taken off his work in the audience through Sam Mann preceding him on the bill and working from the orchestra pit. In this spot tonight the act went a hundred per-cent better. Olio in 1. Time 12 min.
