Comedy sketch, “Her Own Mother.” A farcical act with three people story is amusing and act is well played and seemed to amuse today’s audience. Not a pretentious thing but would get over in this spot in the “big” small-time houses.
1 woman, 4 men. Time 25. Open inter F.S., shift to 1 special, and keep shifting back and forth. They offer a very funny sketch called, “In and Out.” The dialogue is crisp and original and one monologue a “drunk” gives to a door key is as a bit of work as has been heard here for a long time. The audience appeared to enjoy every moment of this sketch.
Same big comedy hit as before, gaining many laughs and keeping the audience in good humor from start to finish. Left nothing to be desired. Strong finish. Street in 1, 23 minutes.
In the sketch “Twin Flats.” A good comedy sketch with some singing mixed in, went very good. 23 min. full stage. Close in one 3 min.
Presenting their novelty “Travelling” good stuff presented in a very clever manner and went very good. 18 min. in one and two.
“The Bridegroom and the Best Man.” Two men, one of them tom-boy with quite a following here. That fact alone keeps the act in the bill for the rest of the week. Act looks to me like a couple of beginners. If they really expect to succeed they should spend a couple of years in the picture shows, occasionally visiting regular vaudeville houses to pick up some more material. They have not even been good choosers. One of the men has a fair singing voice and this really saves the act as their talk is terrible. Street in 1. Time 15 min.
2 men and 2 women in “When Pat Was King.” Scene opens showing Pat as servant, goes to royal tent in Ireland, A.D. 968, finishes in same set as opening. The story of Pat eating the lotus plant and dreaming himself King of Ireland is very well worked out. There were a lot of laughs throughout. The act seemed to please in every way and gained a good round of applause at the finish. 28 minutes, special in 5.
20 min. in one. This act held the spot in great shape being full of clever lines, clean humor and a lot of the funniest business imaginable. Every one of the humorous surprises got a big laugh, and the finish was great. A splendid feature for this difficult spot on the bill.
A condensation of “Divorcons” which she calls “A Divorce Dinner.” Miss Scott was our leading lady in last summer’s Stock Company and no doubt for that reason she went stronger than she might have otherwise. However, I think it is a clever sketch that would go anywhere, particularly after it has been played by her company a few more times. There are lots of laughs and the sketch is splendidly dressed and ought to appeal to any audience of thinking people. 23 Min. F.S.
Presenting “The School of Actin” without a doubt the greatest laughing act we have ever had, their comedy is away from every one else’s and knocked them out of their sets. Seven people in the act. A very big hit. 28 min. Full stage.
