25 minutes in one. He repeated his former success and without a doubt is the funniest monologist in vaudeville today.
16 min. in 1—Monologue comedienne, and an exceptionally clever one at that. I thought at the outset she was going to prove a failure but was agreeably disappointed for she held her audience to the close, and they gave every indication of wanting more.
Monologue in one. Went very big. 20 minutes.
In 1. Time 11. A very funny German dialect monologue, well timed.
Mr. Tannen brought with him an entire new monologue today which is clever, and adding to it his distinct personality, he was warmly welcomed and liberally applauded throughout. In one.
A good looking chap with a good personality who presented a monologue that may be considered as fair. I would not be surprised if, in the near future, when he gets some better material, he would be reckoned among our best monologist, altho [sic] I do not want to give the impression that at present it is a first class act. 13 Min. in One.
16 min. 1 ½. This man is a born entertainer, full of vitality and good “red blood” humor. His manner of delivery is very pleasing, and his stuff is clean and wholesome. His piano work is rich humor and skillful from a musician’s standpoint. He really belongs around 10 o’clock on the bill, and can safely hold any spot where an of this kind is needed, as he will go particularly strong with the evening audiences. A pronounced hit all the way through and closed.
On at 4:04, 17 minutes in 1. Another hit. North has discarded his former Hebrew makeup and is now made up in much the same manner as he was in “The Gay Russars” with a small mustache and wears a dress suit and silk hat. My personal opinion is that the change improves his act very much as he gets away from the old stereotyped style and the audiences seem to like him just as well if not better. He held them late this afternoon and got big hands all through his act and a good close.
The same tramp comedian as of yore. A liberal allotment of his old stuff was given and a fairly good sprinkling of new. There was a slight demonstration upon his entrance but he didn’t wake them up for a little while. Finally he got them going his way in good shape and it was then a pretty easy matter for him to handle the house as he pleased. The finish was fairly strong, but I believe the act was well liked. 28 minutes, street in 1.
By special arrangement with Mr. Lester he very considerably modified and shortened his monologue, following it with the best character imitations of Richard Carle, Victor Moore, Sam Bernard, James Thornton, James McIntyre, Billy Clifford, and Edwin Stevens ever given here. In this line of work he is a capable artists and makes a decided hit. In one.
