Marshall Montgomery

19 min. in one. Uses a very life-like manikin and does some very expert stunts in his specialty—eating, drinking and smoking while the manikin “sings” and “whistles” the ballads in various keys. The jokes got considerable laughter and the close was very strong after the whistling. Held the spot A1.

Jewells Manikins

21 min. F.S. Better than ever. This act is certainly the children’s delight and no mistake. Immensely improved by the introduction of a manikin audience and orchestra visible throughout. It is marvelous how close to human movements they can operate these little toys in imitation of people of all nations in consistent scenes, all brilliant and varied. Children’s laughter could be heard everywhere in the house, and the applause was constant. Mme Jewell got a strong hand at the finish.

Trovollo

20 min. F.S., close in one. Carries set representing exterior of a country roadhouse. Woman assistant plays the part of Mrs. Newlywed with a manikin kid. Five characters,–the bad chauffeur, the old major, the kid, the G.A.R. veteran and the boy on the dog. Line of talk bright as a whole, but needed pruning for our audiences. Closed well with the Teddy stunt, and the uniformed manikin boy on the trained dog.

Jewell’s Manikin’s

(13 mins.) It did just as well as ever in the opening spot. Some new bits and a very good novelty.

Jewells Manikins

Splended act of the kind, did not get very much applause, but there were quite a large number of children in Monday afternoon. evidently drew some business.

Mme. Jewell’s Manikins

The original Jewell’s Manikins in their latest production “Circus Day in Toyland” The figures represent celebrated stars. Windup with an array of battleships which went over with a good hand. 10 min.

Schichtl’s Marionettes

(16 mins.) A very good manikin act that did unusally well as an opener. Has a lot of novel features, well worked, and closed to a good hand.

Holdin’s Mannkins

YYH – This is another of Mr. Keith’s acts and it is safe to say that we have never seen marionettes in this country before. The general fitting up of the act is great—had a fine stage with a full set of scenery, and everything is first class order—strongly, and it is hardly possible to conceive how people can produce the effects that they do by the manipulation of strings. Every move made by these little figures is absolutely natural and life-like, and the audience were quick to appreciate this fact and were most hearty in their applause. The act is closed with a transformation feature which was very pretty and attractive. It is an exceptionally strong turn throughout. 24 minutes, full stage.
