Martini and Maxmillian

19 min. open in 4, close in 1—comedy magic and illusion, one man performing tricks straight and the other exposing in clumsy fashion. It made a bigger hit than I supposed would be possible where I had it in the bill.

The Great Goldin

Illusionist. He is a hard worker and his act cannot be praised too highly. His big illusions are the best that have ever been presented in this city. There is no doubting the fact that he is one of the very best features in vaudeville. 20 minutes full stage.

Horace Goldin and Co.

Five people. Goldin is undoubtedly without a peer as an illusionist. He now does no talking in the act and this is probably the most noticeable improvement since he was last seen here. Carries his own set. 20 minutes, full stage.

J. Warren Keane

12 min. in 1. This young fellow has a pleasing personality and is “getting there” rapidly in his line of work. He can palm a billiard ball better than any other man in the business and his manipulation of cards is very skillful. He is worth a much better place in this house, where such acts are appreciated that I have been able to give him.

Bert Shepherd

The Shepherd act, from the audience standpoint, is fully as good as Fred Lindsay’s. From the manager’s standpoint it is better, because it doesn’t cost nearly as much. He held the closing spot most satisfactorily, receiving much applause for his closing feats with the whip. I am inclined, however, to believe that three or four of what appear to be his most skillful tricks, are faked. Some of the audience didn’t believe in the apple cutting and a request on our part to have it passed among the audience before cutting met with a flat refusal. I am also skeptical of the bottle and silver quarter tricks. However, if he fools the audience it all right. 10 Min. F.S.

Mrs. Eva Fay

In Thaumaturgy. There is no question that Mrs. Fay is going to draw us business. This was indicated by the big business of today and a good sale for the week, also inquires as to the time of her appearance, et cetera. The audience showed decided interest in her work, the comedy portions going exceedingly well. I consider her one of the best cards in vaudeville. This portion of her act consumes 25 Min. F.S.

Mrs. Eva Fay

Presenting the first part of her act—Spiritualism. This portion is necessary to prepare for her latter feature work. 15 Min. F.S. can open with about 3 min. in one.

Frank Buoman

3 shows. 13 min. in one. This man does card tricks, and finishes with a canary bird transformation from a paper bag to a cage. There is little finish to the act, and the tricks are all commonplace.

Mrs Eva Fay

1st part. Time 17. In 1. Male assistant. In this part Mrs Fay does olf [sic] cabinet tricks of the spiritualistic order. Only a mild success with this. 2nd part. F.S. special interior. Time 30. Mrs Fay answers questions written down by the audience, and she is apparently working by some new method. She gave over fifty answers at the Monday matinee and was a huge success. Her constant flow of humor helps out greatly.

Hope Eden

(17 mins.) Through the injection of some smart talk by “Frescott” this act proved an excellent comedy number, as well as a fine novelty through the mind reading skill of the girl. It is an act that creates talk and ought to do very well, especially at the matinees.
