Henry Clive’s

“Spirit Paintings.” This is one of the very best illusions we have ever played and its value is greatly added to by the clever line talk of Mr. Clive. It is very mystifying and is bound to cause no end of speculative argument this week. F.S.

Henry Clive & Co.

In the illusion, “Spirit Painting.” Fine number, capably presented. His line of talk is bright and entertaining. Reproduction of paintings. Had them all guessing. Held attention throughout and finished strong. Picture sheet in 1. C.D.F. in 3, 15 minutes. (Washington)

Onaip

Presenting his piano illusion, it is certainly very mystifying and has the people talking already how is it done. Feel that act should draw some business. 12 min. full stage.

Horace Goldin

21 min. F.S. Spec. This well known illusionist seemed to please and closed to a fair hand.

Onaip, The Hindoo Mystic

12 minutes f.s. This illusion played here about five weeks at the Food Fair, two years ago, but it has greatly improved since that time. The set is struck immediately after the illusion, showing a bare stage. It is a certainly mystifying, and has the audience guessing. But it was very plain that the people know that mesmerism is pure “bunk” and they hated to show that they believed it.

Herbert Brooks

(17 mins.) One of the best routines of card manipulation we have seen in a long time. Works in a breezy style and was well liked. Closed to a good hand.

Clayton, The Mystic

Clayton and his two assistants are dressed as East Indians and work in a set that represents a room in an east Indian home. He passes envelopes through the audience with cards numbered and answers questions by numbers. His act went over very good — everyone seemed satisfied with the answers they received. 22 min.

Roland Travers

(8 mins.) A very showy illusion act. Good tricks, well done and the act made a big flash in the closing position holding the audience interested and closing to a big hand.

The Vander Koors

Grotesque Illusionists. Made a good opening act. 11 min. full stage.

Mme. Adelaide Herrmann

(12 mins.) She has not played here in quite a long time and held the house seated as well as anything we have had in closing position in several weeks. The routine of magic contains some familiar tricks and some new illusions, all well done.
