Juno Salmo

This fellow does a fairly wonderful act.  He is one of the best contortionists I have ever seen.  His opening is very good, uses a number of electrical effects which I was forced to cut out on account of the Fire Inspector who said it was dangerous.  The act went very well.  12 minutes, full stage.  Two shows.

The La Jess

Contortionists. Works with bars, rings, trapeze, and etc. including a small cubical box, from which he emerges in view of the audiences, bringing considerable applause. The costuming is all to the good, the feats are the regulation contortion work, with some few novelties. The man has little or no personality. At the close of the act took very well, as it is very good as an opener, or in this section of the bill. Act would be improved by faster work particularly in the first part. 11 mins. Gar in 3.

Rae & Benedetto

Two men, clown and straight in contortion and equilibrium act on suspended ladder. This act went very well, and got big applause. The finish is very good. 11 minutes, full stage.

Cavans

Contortionist on slack wire. This is an exceptionally good act and I would have liked to have given him a better place on the bill, but didn’t want to get him too near the O’Meers Sisters. 10 min.  full stage, 3 shows.

Kimball & Lewis

Man making up as a clown. Doing some contortion work on tables and chairs, and woman who sings a couple of songs and does a little dancing. They work a little slow and the act drags considerably. If they would cut the act to 10 minutes and inject a little ginger, it would be more valuable. 15 min. full stage at 3.

Bertini & Brockway

Two rather good looking young girls who make a mean appearance and in a small way do some quite clever work in the way of dancing and contortion with a little singing added. Thoroughly all right from a three a day standpoint. 11 min. in 1, 3 shows.

Bertina & Borckway

2 young ladies, singers and dancers. Well known for contortion work although a bit awkward. Managed to secure some applause. Voices don’t amount to anything. Brockway is a soft-shoe dander and managed to hold the end up fairly good. They received some applause on the finish. The act is alright to put on before 2 or 8 o’clock. 12 min in one, 3 shows.

Toledo and Price

3 shows, 10 min. full stage. Man and woman in an acrobatic contortion act, the best of its class ever seen in this house. The man is a wonder. Act will get a better place in the bill tomorrow and is strong enough to close our show at night for the balance of the week.

Zutka

This alleged mystery did not come up to expectations. It is simply a new way of introducing a clever contortionist. After the matinee we instructed the manager to expose the ‘mystery’ by having Zutka walk off the stage, as we did not wish to have the intelligence of our audience questioned.

The La Jess.

NR 3. A man and a woman in a rather novel act of contortion. The man is really very clever. They have quite a pretty stage setting and made a very favorable impression. 12 minutes, full stage.
