Milton Pollock and Company

In George Ade’s one act comedy, called, “Speaking to Father.” A crackerjack comedy and all comedy lines, and a laugh after laugh. A good story, humorously told in Ade [sic] slang. Worthy of immediate booking and a route. Twenty-minutes, full stage.

“Hughie” Jennings and Ben Smith

In the baseball comedy, “The New Mascot.” A better act than we anticipated, having no little merit in it. Bound to prove a drawing card on account of the baseball reputation of Jennings. In one. Spec. drop.

Darrell & Conway

Full stage, closing in one. 19 minutes. In their novel comedy, “Behind the scenes.” This act is doing fine. The comedy is good and the singing especially good. They make a number of quick changes and finish very strong. I consider the act very good value. (OPEN)

Jessie Busley

In “Miss 318.” Special. 23 minutes. (Comedy of Department Store Life.) I think this is one of the acts that should be eliminated from vaudeville. I can see no merit in the piece. It is very much overdrawn and really insulting to the department store working girl. The company is very ordinary, including Miss Busley. I hope I will never play anything so bad again. (MEMPHIS)

Billy McDermott

20 min in one. This man’s material is good and his method takes with the crowd. Got them laughing right from the start and kept them going right up to the big finish. All of his stuff is new and good. Held this spot in fine shape and could hold any place on the bill with credit where an act is one is wanted. Closed with the Toreador burlesque to big applause. As an encore, gave the best caricature of Sousa & Creatore leading a band ever given here.

Rawls & Von Kaufman

I was a little scary about these people down in this spot after a lively show, but they held it more than creditably; in fact, scored as big a hit as they did on their previous visit. I am having them do their act in one, instead of opening in three; they insist that they must have a center door to come through, fortunately we had a drop that had a center door in it, which we used in one. There is no need of a center door for these people, but they think he must come in through one. Being entirely in one, it is a most valuable act; a good bargain at the money. 27 min in one and the audience laughing very minute.

Percy Haswell and Co.

In the Elizabethan comedy, “Master Will’s Players.” This is unusual well done. The working in of two scenes from Shakespeare’s comedies, “As You Like It” and “The Taming of the Shrew” gives Miss Haswell a fine opportunity to show her ability in Shakespearean roles and she does herself justice. She has adequate support, too, and we can recommend the act highly. F.S. Spec. set.

Phina & Picks

14 minutes in one. Last summer this woman played here as “Josephine Gassman and Picks.” Nevertheless she has an excellent act and it could hold a much better position on the program. The comedy by a little black chap will be accepted anywhere, while Phina shouts ragtime airs attractively. This act works every minute of the time allowed it and was a hit. (Toledo)

Valerie Bergere’s Players

Including Ruth Raynor, Edward Hemmer, and Milmott Williams, in a one-act comedy “Where There’s A Woman” by Herbert Warren. A very pleasing comedy that received the laughs and got by in good shape. Fifteen, full stage.

Rawls and Von Kaufman

Full stage. 20 minutes. Interior, closing in one. This many is very funny comedian, The woman is not good, – just about gets by. The act went well for us – plenty of laughs, but I would no recommend it too far down on the bill. (PROVIDENCE)
