Bonita and Lew Hearn

20 minutes in one and two. Street and palace drops. This act is working under difficulties this week. Hearn is preceded by a “Rube” sheriff in “Rubeville,” not to mention eight other rube comedians in the same act. Bonita does not appear nearly as “classy” in contrast with him, immediately following Irene Bordoni, as she would if placed otherwise. They are still doing the same old act. Considering these handicaps, they got away with it in this hard spot.

Eddie Carr and Co.

In “The Office Boy.” 20 minutes fs. C.D.F. Close in one. Olio drop. The same act he gave us before. Got quite a number of laughs and closed well, but the sort of turn we would much rather see at the opposition houses than at Keith’s.

Inglis & Reading

Practically the same act that was given by Hawthorn & Inglis, and as far as this house is concerned, no better – and that was pretty bad. Our audience like “nut” work when there is a little merit behind it, but these people did not reach the audience or me. However, they might do very well in some other places, and I think should be given another chance before condemnation. 14 minutes in one.

Gibson & Guinan

21 min. A very good comedy talking act with a singing finish. Their material consists mostly of cross-fire talk and brought plenty of laughs. For their finish in one they use a conversational song number that also proved a laugh-winner. They finished to a good hand.

Montgomery & Perry

These two men certainly “walked away with the audience,” receiving plenty of applause and creams of laughter. I am glad the audience liked them because we are paying them a lot of money. For myself, I agree with Clark Brown that it is about as unfunny and cheap lot of nonsense as I ever saw, but the audience liked it and that is all that is necessary. 25 minutes in one.

Jean Adair & Co.

“Maggie Taylor-Waitress.” 27 min. A one-act comedy play which can take its place among the real gems in vaudeville. It is not only entirely new in theme, but blends a bit of pathos in a manner which cannot help but touch any audience. In addition, it is splendidly played and was a great big applause hit.

“The Night Boat”

26 minutes f.s. Two special scenes. Open in one. Close in three. The story is novel, well played, full of laughs, and the setting on board the Albany night boat, “Berkshire,” is about effective a stage picture as we have had this season. Held the interest every minute, got laugh, and closed strong. The best thing in the show this week.

May Elinore and Violet Carlton

sister Kate has told here a couple of times, – and putting it over. The idea of a straight woman as a foil for Miss Elinores humor proved somewhat of a novelty. They got laughs and closed well.

William Gilbert and Texas Guinan

20 minutes f.s. Close in one. Wood set and olio drop. These people got quite a number of laughs with their automobile talk, introducing a real machine. When they get down to the singing one, however, the act does not fare so well.

Byal & Early

Well known team with a new Scotch act which is no better than their former offering. Got lots of laughs but were hardly strong enough for the next to closing position, which they held at the matinee. I would not advise giving them any more money than I am paying them. 13 minutes in one.
