One of the funniest and most entertaining acts in Vaudeville. All three are clever comedians, and the one who does the Jew travesty is immense. Caught the crowd immediately and kept a running fire fun all through their act which was well received and all to short to satisfy the audience. Recalled three times. Fine for this place in the bill. 9 min. in 1.
Scotch comedian. This man is something of a disappointment. His work is rather boisterous and lacks finish. In Boston he was asked to cut out his second song of the “Snow Scene” and I like that best of anything he does, and the audience this afternoon agreed with me. I am going to have him cut out his Scotch Story of the Foot Ball Game which did not seem to be understood at all. I don’t believe the trouble is so much that the audience don’t understand the character as it is that the man isn’t funny or clever to any decided degree. I have never seen Jack Lorimer but Mr. Whitford – by no means – compares with Harry Lander who is a great London favorite, in the same line. He did 33 min. opening and closing in 1. I shall cut it down to about 18 min. tonight. 2 shows.
In “Hogan’s Visit.” Well known. Company remains the same. Leslie secured quite a number of laughs. Miss Sailor was compelled to take several encores for her vocal work. Finished to good applause. 23 min.-full stage
SR 3. Singing and talking comedian. Tells a few stories. Has a good, strong singing voice. His stories do not amount to much. All right for three show section. 14 mins. in one
In a new act called “The Botany Class.” This is a good comedy and singing act, full stage, close in one 27 minutes.
KR 3. Work in one. Man and woman in a singing and talking comedy. They open with a duett. The woman tells some good stories and sings a coon song; they close with a duett. The act was well received and is an exceptionally strong act for three-a-day section and would make good any time before 3 o’clock.
Two men, one whiteface; the other, blackface. One, an exceptionally good singer; the other has a good voice also. The comedian is exceedingly funny and while all of their stuff is not new, they work it over in such fashion as to make it go very strongly. They were a decided hit, in a very hard spot. 20 min. in 1, 2 shows.
Black-face Comedian on the Geo. Evans style. Very good voice, and his songs got a good hand. His patter is fair and the act is above the average one for three shows. I can recommend it. 15 minutes in one.
Singing comedienne. Hebrew impersonator. 15 minutes introducing an imitation of Kate Barry singing ‘My Enry Brown.’ Miss Shaw’s imitation of Kate Barry is not good. I think Miss Shaw’s great fault heretofore has been the length of her act. We had her cut three or foure [sic] minutes out of the act which I feel sure has improved it some.
17 minutes, full stage, closing in one 3 minutes. While this act went very well with the majority of our patrons, I am sure that I would not care to play it again owing to the unlocked for things which Mr. Fitzgibbon is liable to do. Many times during the week he was really insulting to the audience. I think he is suited best with a burlesque show- one that is not particular.
