This is one of the best acts I have ever seen for some time. Plenty of comedy, also good singing. Miss McKenzie has a very beautiful soprano voice, and Mr. Shannon is a very good Baritone singer. Up to this time the act was the hit of the bill. Receiving several curtain calls. 23 minutes, full stage.
Monologist and singing comedian. Return date here. Late of the morning telegraph. Just as big a hit as many men getting two and three times his salary. Why he is not kept busy, I can’t understand at his salary. His last song got five encores. 18 minutes in one three shows.
Man and woman talking and singing comedy. They make a very nice appearance and their voices are excellent. In the opening part of the act the talk is a little tame. Material ancient. The indian song and dance is the merit of to the act. Some very good applause on the finish. 17 minutes in one.
German Comedians and Parody Singers. “Wizards of Joy.” 20 Min in 1. ON at 9.50. The usual bunch of nonsense and travesties, some of which are a little bit coarse, but they all got constant laughter and applause. The burlesque on Grand Opera at the close was especially amusing. The applause came mostly from the upper part of the house. In the evening, the act was nothing short of a knock-out in this hard spot.
35 min. F.S. 2 shows. ON at 8:33. This is called a “rollicking farcelet”, and that is really what it is. It is certainly full of ginger, and from start to finish the comedy is of a high order, the vocal numbers are new and pleasingly offered. Four young men and young woman, in the act. IN a college town like this, such an act is sure to hold the interest and be talked about. Frequent applause and much laughter throughout the act, and the finish was A.l. with curtain call. This act has been heralded pretty well, but it certainly made good its billing.
Comedy singing, dancing, and comedy act. Man and woman. A very fair opening act. The man is a good dancer, and the woman affords him very good support. They have a lot of useless talk and in my opinion the act without the greater part of the conversation would be much better. The man accompanies the woman on the guitar in one song and his work is really out of the ordinary, he displaying an execution that is really remarkable. C.D.F. 15 minutes.
2 shows, 19 min. in 1. Two men and a woman, in a comedy and singing skit, ‘The Good Ship Nancy Lee.’ They carry their own drop representing a portion of the deck of a ship. The comedy and singing are both good and went very well with our audience today. Would not suggest, however, placing it on a bill too late. Cut – one of the men sticking his tongue out at the other.
I was led to believe that this was a great act. On the contrary it is a frost, and is not worth half the money. The comedy of the act consists of, when the vocal numbers do not get much applause they have to TAKE up the encores on account of the moving pictures. The singing is very ordinary, and I hear the whole act is not nearly what the original was. A few hands on the finish, owing to the “Red White and Blue” gag. Never again. 16 minutes, full stage. Five minutes close in one.
Man and woman, both comedy in singing and talking act. One of my Thursday morning trial acts. A really good three show act. The girl is very funny, and made a hit with Geo. Evan’s Song “When My Ship Comes In”. She has some new gage that went very well. Their parodies are good. 15 minutes in one.
Com. & Animal imita:- 13 min. F.S. 3 shows. On at 6:45. Man and woman, both working straight. The comedy is not very strong, but the songs introduced got the house, and their imitations of cats, dogs, chickens etc., all pulled a strong stroke with the Missouri audience. A good early place act.
