Man and woman. Man dressed as tramp and does comedy juggling. The woman does dancing specialties. Both are quite good. A good opening act. C.D.F. in three. 15 min.
German comedians and dancers. Quite a surprise for excellence, although we had had good reports of this Dutch comedy team. Their singing was good, their talking was better, and their dancing the best. Smacked a little too much of Weber and Fields in the grotesque twisting of the English language but there were laughs throughout. A strong feature in 1, and worthy this place on the bill. Falsetto song a scream. 15 mins. Adv. St. in 1.
“Mixed Drinks” 25 min. F.S. close in 1. 2 shows. On at 7:35. Unfortunately, this act uses a drunk and disorderly scene as an important adjunct, but it has a good many song and dance novelties to relieve it. Miss Hennings is one of the most expert and graceful dancers we have had here for some time, and a very pretty girl. Hennings, who plays the part of the kid, is also a splendid comedy dancer. The drunk, played by Lewis, is good for that sort of an act, but a lot of the talk had to be cut out, not being suited to our audiences, soon as the talk about drinking bouts with Flossies and Jennies. Laughing and applause was frequent and the close was strong, with two curtain calls. With the drunk and disorderly talk cut completely out of this act, (as was done after the first performance), it should make good over the circuit in this place on the bill. Had to be toned down a good deal before an Eastern audience, which would never stand for such a thing as a man’s confession to his wife that he had been out drinking with a man friend and two girls, winding up with a fight, in front of a saloon, while waiting for a patrol wagon. The act was long, as it was, and stood the cut very well, and Lewis, who plays the part of the drunk, seemed to be very willing and anxious to please.
Comedians and Dancers. 10 min. in 1. 3 shows. Two boys in college make-up. The song and dance specialty. The singing is weak, but the dancing is good. Their double dancing seems to be a little too much of an effort toward novelty, but their single work is very commendable, and got a good hand for some new and difficult steps. The close was exceptionally good for a dancing act.
Comedy singing and dancing duo. A man and a woman. Their comedy and singing is only fair but what they lacked in this they made up in their dancing. The act closed very strong with good applause. C.D.F. 12 min.
3 shows, 14 min. open full stage, close in 1—Two men and women, in comedy singing, dancing and acrobatic specialties. This is a fairly good act from the 3-a-day standpoint, the girl going some good dancing and one of the men is quite clever in that line. Acceptable from the 3-a-day standpoint.
Comedy singing and dancing. 16 min. C.D.F. CL. In 1. 3 shows. Miss Rich appears in a very pretty soubrette costume, her partner appears as a bellboy. Miss Rich begins with a French dance which is very fetching, followed by a line of bright talk, including burlesque melodramatic scene which brought some laughs. The best part of the act is the dancing, particularly that of Rich which is right up to the standard, and received strong applause. This act made a very good opener, but is worth a better spot in the evening show and will get it.
Hebrew comedians. Negotiated this spot in great shape. Have some new material with some funny eccentric dancing. Finished very strong. 16 min. in one
Man and woman in what they term a “Vaudeville Intermezzo” introducing singing, dancing, mandolin and piano playing, and high kicking. The woman is a pretty good singer while the man went very well with his dancing and high kicking. Entertaining to our audience all through. Good early act. 16 min in 3.
