This act was the only disappointment on the bill, and to my mind can only be classed as fair. They do some most ordinary dancing, some alleged jokes, and sing a sort of topical song. It is only good to open the show. 12 min. in two.
17 mins. in One. His talk made them laugh and his dancing was accorded a generous hand.
Comedy talking and dancing act. They have a lot of new stuff and went very well indeed.
Presenting the sketch entitled “A Very Bad Boy”. Mr. Godfrey has improved great since his last appearance in this house. His grotesque dancing never fails to elicit tumultuous applause. His skit is very funny and both Godfrey and his support extract every laugh and comedy line from it that it contains. It is undeniably and genuinely a mirth provoker of the 14 caret trend. 28 minutes full stage.
Comedians and dancers in one. Went good. 14 minutes.
Comedian and Dancer. Is a good dancer, but his monologue does not amount to much and the voice he uses in singing sounds as though it belonged to someone else a good ways off. It’s safe to say his singing could not be heard in the balcony. Works in one; time 12 minutes.
YRR. This act consists of one man and two women. The act opens in one with two girls giving an imitation of two Bowery girls, which is very clever indeed without being offensive; then the man comes on and he doesn’t amount to very much, and simply holds the stage while the women make a change; they then go to full stage and the women sing a song while the man changes, and they close the act with the three singing and dancing in fancy wardrobe which is heavily loaded with rhinestones. It is a very good act indeed, and made a good impression here. 19 minutes, opening in one, closing full stage.
14 minutes, full stage. This act is just about the same as it has always been for a number of years. Practically no improvement, and possibly no worse. Vaudeville audiences of the better class find very little enjoyment in the alleged comedy and to some, I believe, the little fellow is repulsive. They are to be commended for dressing the act neatly and introduce some fair kicking and comic dancing. By no means worth their salary to us.
Singing and Dancing comedians. Sam Morton is probably the best Irish comedian on the vaudeville stage to-day and is ably assisted by his wife, son and daughter. Their act has not changed any since their last appearance at this house, but as it is, stands as one of the best sources of the wholesome entertainment we have ever presented. The rendition of the English Costermonger’s song by the quartette is a notable feature. Full stage; closing in one. Time 26 minutes.
By long odds the hit of the show. Very clever artists both. Guyer’s comedy is novel and amusing, but his tough dance with Miss Daly, making a rough house climax is one of the best things produced here this season. It has scored a great success. Full stage; time 13 minutes.
