Child impersonator. A resident here and received a good advance hand on her entrance. Her work is away from the usual child act and she gets her stuff over the footlights in good shape. She sings four songs and makes a change of costume for each. Also introduces a few minutes of monologue that gets many laughs. This is a good act for any manager who can play children without police interference. Olio drop in 1, time 18 min.
15 minutes in 1. This boy soprano in his second week proved even a bigger feature than before. He is giving an almost entirely new program with several well known selections that got the audience in great shape this afternoon. The boy is certainly one of the best features we have had in one in a long time and the reception he gets when he comes on the stage shows that he is being talked about and is drawing business.
Boy soprano. 13 minutes in 1. Master Hole made his vaudeville debut this afternoon. He was brought to America by Madam Lisa Lehmann and had been appearing in concerts in the large cities for the past few months. He is without question the greatest boy soprano seen here in years, with a remarkably sweet voice and his command of it is absolutely perfect. When he was engaged it was simply a question of getting the proper program, and this afternoon we struck it almost right, and will only change one song. As it was, he actually carried the audience by storm, not alone by his singing but by his wonderful personality. He is sure to become a big favorite especially with ladies and children. We will keep him another week.
An exceptionally clever pair that made the biggest kind of hit all the way through, and in fact proved themselves to be decidedly gifted and popular as entertainers. Nothing left to be desired. Finished strong. Street in 1, 25 minutes.
S.R. 3 – act is worth that and a little bit more; consists of two very young girls and a boy – violinists – make a hit with the feminine portion of the audience particularly; the girls are winsome little things, and while their playing may not be up to symphony qualities, it serves all vaudeville purposes. C.D. Fancy. Could close in but do not need it here. Would advise booking this act in any house where children are permitted to play upon the stage.
Consisting of father, little boy and girl. The children open the act in character song as street urchins, then go to a line of talk with the father, who appears as an old Irishman. While their material is not particularly new, the children are quite clever. Their dancing is exceptionally good and the act is going well here, and can be classed as a good one in the early part of the bill. 19 mins in 2 and four minutes in one.
25 min. – open in one – C.D.F. in 3 – close in one – As is well known by every manager who has ever played him, Morton is a chronic “kicker” and can cause more trouble and dissatisfaction among the performers in five minutes than most performers can in an hour. He walked in this morning with the nonchalance of an after-dinner speaker and issued his ultimatum. He would positively not go on until his time was changed. He didn’t like several things. Will Cressy was billed over him, as was the Sextette – as they should be. He succeeded in raising a rumpus, and compelled us to change the whole show. Of course, the act is an excellent one; but it is a question if it would make good without the little girl, who is really the whole show. She simply carries the act. In the opening in one the elder Morton has to resort to swearing to make any impression. Mr. Albee was greatly displeased with his actions this morning; and if we every play the act again, there will have to be an understanding before 11 o’clock Monday morning.
39 minutes. 75 local children out on a splendid act and will undoubtedly draw business. In four scenes and specialties between the scenes.
A young girl about eleven or twelve years of age, I should think, doing the regulation second sight act, and concluding with a rather remarkable exhibition of apparent memory in reading a lot of figures on a black-board. The old system of second sight is apparently used, but it is very cleverly worked and the age of the child makes it in a certain sense rather remarkable, although in no way a sensation. 23 minutes in one. HR.
Special in two. 18 minutes in his 1922 Review. Eddie does a little less than usual this year, and the children a little more, which everything considered is a good thing.
