Bixley and Fink

18 minutes in one. These boys were nothing short of a riot here to-night and this afternoon. In fact, they stopped the show. They toned down the burlesque quite a lot without hurting it in the least.

Dick Lynch

18 minutes in 1. Lynch’s burlesque of illustrated songs got the audience in good shape here, and his stories went very well. Act dragged a bit at the middle, but as a good finish, and was on the whole very satisfactory.

Edwin Stevens

26 minutes f.s. in “Guardy.” This is one of the best sketches Mr. Stevens has ever done and went big here this afternoon. It tells the story of a man who returns from the club in an Old Roman costume which is covered on his entrance by a long overcoat. This furnishes a lot of comedy and after he gets into a tuxedo there is a good deal of burlesque in vaudeville, all of which makes the act a very valuable one.

Lavine and Leonard

12 minutes f.s. Burlesque juggling act, most of the comedy being connected with a prop auto. After the first few minutes got a number of laughs and made a good opening act. They fixed up a close in 1 in fair shape to help out.

Gertrude Hoffman

New revue. 52 min. F.S. close in one. In her second week. Her advance applause to-day was equal in volume to that which almost any act receives at its close here. If such a thing is possible, the act went stronger to-day than at any time last week and she fully sustains the verdict given her in Philada. that she has the greatest act from an artistic standpoint that we have ever played, and as a box office attraction, is absolutely without a rival during the present season. In fact, not since the days of “Houdini” has there been a craze such as Philada. is now going through. The business last week was capacity every performance and the advance sale for this week is something enormous, and it looks that we will duplicate last week’s record of the house. Every newspaper in town gave her a special Sunday story and have has something more or less to say about her daily.

Kelly & Kent

Comedy, dance, & song. 19 F.S. close in one. Well known comedy sketch with some new material. The tough girl part and the burlesque melodrama won considerable applause. The burlesque “sporting club” announcement at the close made a hit.

Dolan and Lemharr

20 minutes in 2. “Nearly a Mind Reader.” They have been playing this act f.s. but can work it as well in two as was shown this afternoon when in order to help out on a rather heavy show, they did so. The act is a burlesque on mind reading, and has number of laughs, but as feature could hardly be compared with “A High Toned Burglar.”

Gardiner & Vincent Co.

In the fantasy, “Winning a Queen.” Went very big. 18 min. in three. Hit of the bill.

Gertrude Hoffman

52 min. Greatest vaudeville act in the business, in my estimation, barring none. It has all the elements of variety—high-class music, classic dancing, spectacular features, caricature—indeed, an abundance of everything that appeals to all parts of a house. Held the interest of the audience intensely through as no other act ever presented on this stage, to my recollection. Here is a woman who does not merely two or three things well, but accomplishes the seeming miracle of taking a dozen different parts one after another with perfectly amazing fidelity, and never falling down in a single detail. Nothing more need be said about this act than to confirm the New York reports and there is no doubt of its rousing success after the enthusiasm of today.

“Foolish Factory”

28 minutes f.s. with close in 1. It was a rather hard audience this afternoon and the “Foolish Factory” failed to wake them up. It is burlesque pure and simple but does not begin to compare with the “Models of the Jardin de Paris.” It was taken good naturedly all through and got laughs in spots. This evening it went big and got any number of laughs and calls at the finish. Burlesque was a novelty and surprised some in the audience.
