Geo. H. Wood

15 mins. In one-Blackface comedian; has the best delivery of any monologue artist in the business. He was the real hit of the show. The audience all but rose to their feet after his wind up. He got them at the start right on the jump, and he held them with roars of laughter to the end.

W. D Hall

15 mins. in one – Blackface monologist; not a howling success. Had to cut some of his talk. Weakest act on the bill.

Jas. Dooley

Blackface singing and dancing act. This performer is of the old team of Dooley & Fowley, and it hardly seems to be that he has fulfilled the promise that he made as a member of the team. There is no doubt but that he goes good or that he can’t be called a good performer, but some how or other, as a member of the team he seemed to show signs of being a great artist, and in his single turn he certainly falls short of it. His topical song “Read the Answer in the Stars” saved him. Aside from that his act was only ordinary. 15 minutes in one. EH.

Herbert & Willing

Blackface singers, dancers and comedians. This is a fairly good act, but hardly strong enough for the place I am obliged to give them on the bill. 15 M. in one.

James Francis Dooley

16 min. in 1—Blackface talking and singing comedian, who goes very strong in this city, naturally, as it is his home, and stands for a place lower down in the bill than be would be placed elsewhere. He has a fair amount of ability but is conscious of the fact and impresses the audience that way, which militates somewhat against his success. He certainly went strong with our audiences.

Carroll Johnson

Black face comedian. This performer has improved wonderfully since his last engagement here. He is going well. 23 minutes in I.

George H. Wood

Black Face Monologist. Has some new stuff, with which he makes quite a hit. Is a good, smooth conversationalist and his stories create some laughter. Works in one; time 22 minutes.

W.D. Hall

Blackfaced monologuist [sic]. He had no effect upon the audience at all except to seemingly put them to sleep. Of course, his place on the bill was hard and that might have accounted for it. 17 minutes in one.

Russell and Lock

Two men in a blackface singing and dancing act. Very neatly dressed act and both of the young men are exceptionally clever dancers. Act went very strong in a small place on the bill. 14 mins. 1.
