Wartenburg Brothers

A couple of very neat, clever and nice appearing young fellows in an act that opens with acrobatics and closes with foot juggling, and I think it is one of the cleverest acts of the king in the business. They have been here before but there seems to be an added finish to their act which makes it very much stronger. 11 Mins. F.S. GHR.

Quaker City Quartette

This quartette in spite of its age, seem to be improving, and I think I never saw them do better than they did this afternoon. If it were not for the infirmity of the comedian, who is exceedingly lame and seems to be growing worse constantly, I think it would be one of the best four acts in the country. 23 minutes; open full stage; close in one. YRR.

Biograph

The collection of views this week is about the same as usual, with the exception of one picture which is illustrative of the Dunbar in India, and I think it is one of the best pictures that the Biograph people have over furnished us. There were two or three other pictures that went very well indeed, with a few old ones interspersed. On the whole it can be called a fairly good show. 15 minutes in one. KR.

Kennedy & James

Man and woman in a comely sketch, closing with some eccentric dancing in one. This act is only just fair. They have the idea all right, but seem to hardly reach the audience until they get nearly to the finish, when with their eccentric dancing they close fairly well. All right in an early part of the bill. 15 Mins. Open full stage, can close in one if necessary. KR.

Spaulding

Acrobatic tramp. This is a very fair sort of an act and the fellow is quite a good acrobat, and while he is not excessively funny he gets along very nicely indeed and does some pretty good stunts. Can be called a good small act. 12 minutes; full stage. Sr.

Dorsch & Russell

Two men in a musical comedy act, using their own special stage setting. So far as the musical end of it is concerned they are really first-class, and the stage getting is something in the way of the novelty, representing a country railroad station, one of the men impersonating a station agent and the other a tramp. There is considerable novelty about the instrumental part of the act, but the comedy is extremely bad. In they succeed in securing a good line of talk it will develop into one of the best acts in the business. 22 Mins. Open full stage; closing with about 3 minutes in one. GRR.

The Carlons

Man and woman in an acrobatic comedy act interspersed with music entitled “The Texas Girl and the Circus Man”. This is about the same act that these people have always done. So far as the acrobatic part of it is concerned they are quite good, but the rest of it is rather poor and there is a lack of finish to it which will always keep it in the smaller grade of acts. 15 minutes; full stage. Kr.

Imhoff and Conn

Two men in a comedy act. It is about the same thing that was done here by Baker and Conn, and introduces the deaf doctor to whom the Irish comedian appears for relief for lung trouble, the fun being made on account of the doctor’s deafness. Imhoff is not nearly so good as Baker, and the strong singing turn of Baker in one is absent, still the act went very well indeed, and can be rated as a good act in an early place in the bill. 18 minutes; full stage.

Chas. B. Lawlor and Daughters

In a singing act. This act introduces Mr. Lawlor and his two daughters. The girls are very young, I should think about 14 or 15 years of age, and have not got the idea of making up to any great extent, but they sing quite prettily and have considerable of that “give-us-your-kind-applause” material, which is always bound to go. After booking them I heard that they were not very good, and so held back the contract until I could see them. Much to my surprise, in one of the hardest places on the bill, they went very nicely and got lots of applause. I prefer to see them again before I decide on the salary. 18 minutes; open full stage, close in one.

Hines and Remington

GNH. Man and woman in a talking act. There is no question but what Miss Remington is one of the brightest women in the business, and she always manages to bring more or less new material every time they come around. The act had a very hard place on the bill this afternoon, but still they went strong. 19 min. in one.
