McNamee

SR-Clay modeler. There isn’t a great deal of difference in any of these acts, and this fellow seems to be about as good as the average, in fact, in a sense, there is a little novelty to his act in that he departs from the usual idea of making nothing but faces, and finishes his turn by modeling a piece of statuary. Act can be classed as good. 11 minutes; can work in one or two.

Robert Hillard

HRR – In “The Littlest Girl”. There is no question but that this is the most satisfactory straight dramatic sketch that has ever some into Vaudeville, and it went as well this afternoon as it ever did, which is saying all that possibly could be said of it. 23 Mins. Full stg.

Callahan & Mack

YHR-Two men in an Irish talking and dancing act interspersed with bag-pipe and flute playing. This act has developed a great deal during the past year, and comes mighty close to being a classic. Callahan’s impersonation of the old Irishman is simply great, and they were most thoroughly appreciated by the audience. 21 Mins. Full stage

Smirl & Kessner

KR – In an acrobatic singing, dancing, and comedy act. Man and woman. The turn is modeled after that of O’Brien & Havel, and I think the man works even better than O’Brien, the woman, however, is not as good as Havel, still the act went very big, and it can be called a valuable addition to any bill. The finish in one with the poodle dog is very strong. 20 Mins. Open full stage, close in one.

Barrington & Martell

Two women in an alleged comedy and singing act. These women have a very clever idea but are adhesively unable to present it at all, and I am somewhat surprised that Boston did not close them; not that they do anything dirty or coarse, but it is simply mediocre. I did not expect a great act as they were only classed as fair, but I can’t even give them that classification. Of course, they had an awfully hard place on the bill where if was almost impossible for anyone to make good, and that will be rectified to-morrow, but I don’t think the act will ever be any good for us. 21 Mins. open full stage; close in one. KR.

Al Coleman

This young fellow I think, is going to make a good performer. It is a quiet turn of stories and mimicry, and it is hardly fair to criticize him this afternoon, as he had an awful hard place on the bill, following the last of the big acts, and before he reached the audience many of them started to go out. At that he made good and can easily be called a good act. 14 minutes in one. HR.

Josephine Sabel

Miss Sabel is about the first of the Parisienne style of chansonettes that we have ever played in this house. Through some misunderstanding a few years ago she has been kept off the circuit until now. She does a very neat, clever turn and while a little bit swift for our audience here this afternoon at least, she is no way offensive, and made a pleasing impression. With the proper sort of audience there is no doubt but that she would make a big hit and I look for her to go much better to-night than she did this afternoon. 10 Mins. in one. GHR.

Tom Naen & Co

Presenting his old act “A Touch of Nature”. I think the act went fully as strong as it ever did here. Got lots of laughs throughout, and the skating finish was very strong. 25 Mins. full stage. YYH.

Caroline Shepard

Soprano: Miss Shepard was obliged to appear this afternoon in her street clothes and without any make-up, as her trunk had not arrived. She has a very pleasing soprano voice, but did not go nearly as well as Miss George did week before last. There is no gain-saying the fact that she is a fine singer, but I think that she was better received in Boston and Providence from the fact that she is thoroughly well known in that section of the country. 10 minutes in one. GYH.

Jas. Dooley

Blackface singing and dancing act. This performer is of the old team of Dooley & Fowley, and it hardly seems to be that he has fulfilled the promise that he made as a member of the team. There is no doubt but that he goes good or that he can’t be called a good performer, but some how or other, as a member of the team he seemed to show signs of being a great artist, and in his single turn he certainly falls short of it. His topical song “Read the Answer in the Stars” saved him. Aside from that his act was only ordinary. 15 minutes in one. EH.
