Bayonne Whipple & Co.

In a comedy sketch, which while it made a big hit in Pawtucket, failed to score here today. 33 Min. F.S.

Gingras

Alleged heavy weight juggler. A very cheap looking and faky act, put in to replace Charbino Bros. Not good for anything better than opening the show. 12 Min. F.S.

“The Opening Night”

I think this is one of the worst things I have ever saw; the first scene of the act is rather pretty and makes a dainty little sketch in itself; the second scene, in front of the church, is tiresome to say the least, and the last scene, with the exception of the zim-zam game, was about as boresome and long drawn out affair as ever I saw; they got very few laughs, none of them big; the company is very mediocre, some of the people decidedly bad, and I can see nothing to the act to recommend it. We would do a great deal more business with a good $300 sketch. I would say that Mr. Hart is making upwards of $500 a week profit with this thing. 40 min. F.S.

Agnes Scott & Henry Keane

This act, which seems to go very well in almost every other house, somehow or another gets by with very little enthusiasm here. Miss Scott is a favourite with our people, having been connected with the Albee Stock Company in the summer seasons and was exceedingly well liked in her former sketch, but it was quite apparent that our audience don’t care much for the vehicle. 16 min. F.S.

Dr. John C. Bowker

An illustrated 20 min. talk entitled “Beneath the Balkans;” A subject now of very timely interest, well given, which held the audience with close interest, well given, which held the audience with close interest and received a good hand at the finish. Dr. Bowker is always good for one week here and was made welcome today. The subject being so very timely, it seems to me that he should be desirable for any thinking audience. 20 min. in one.

Dennis Bros.

Revolving ladder act and a good one. a splendid investment. 10 Min. F.S.

Stuart Barnes

Well known monologist. Barnes never does go as well in Providence as he seems to in other cities and today was no exception. I don’t mean by that, that he is a failure, (far from it) but he is not worth anything like the salary to us. He has some new songs, only one of which the audience particularly cared for and the most of his talk was old. 20 Min. in One.

Gerald Griffin & Co.

In “Other People’s Money.” This is quite a funny sketch. Griffin had them laughing and the act may be said to have scored a hit. However, with the exception of the boy, his support is not very good. 24 Min. F.S.

Karl Emmy’s Pets

A dog act that is well known over the circuit and repeated here the success that they have been credited with everywhere. A very valuable act. 16 Min. F.S.

Donovan & Arnold

It is surprising how well this act went, particularly Donovan’s monologue. He had a lot of stuff which seemed new to me and had the audience in screams. When Miss Arnold came on the stage the act let down some, but they went quite well as a whole. 20 Min. in One.
