Olive May and J.W. Albaugh, Jr.

In a very dainty little dramatic sketch entitled, ‘Lady Betty’s Highwayman.’ Miss May plays her part exceptionally well and Mr. Albaugh is acceptable. With the regular patrons the act should make quite a hit. Was a little bit over the heads of todays audience. 22 min, full stage, 2 shows.

Mirzl Von Wenzl

Tyrolean Warbler. Personally, I rather like this girl’s work and while she went fairly well today I am inclined to think that the audience didn’t quite grasp her style of singing. I am inclined to believe that she will go better with our regular patrons than with the holiday crowd. 8 min. in 1, 2 shows.

Smirl & Kessner

Acrobatic, comedy sketch. The woman of this team has greatly improved and the man has also introduced a number of new tumbling feats. I consider the act far in excess in value of O’Brien & Havel whose act it somewhat resembles. 16 min. open in 3, can close in 1, 2 shows.

Alf. Holt

Imitator, animals and sounds frequently heard. This man has a good personality and is offering a better series of imitations then when here before. His act is good enough to go on in the early two a day section. 15 min. in 1, 3 shows.

Two Delmers

Barrel jumpers. I was led to believe that there was a trio in this act in fact had so advertised them. These men are quite clever and do a number of very difficult tricks. Exceptionally good three a day turn. 10 min. full stage, 3 shows.

Carroll Johnson

Blackface vocalist and dancer. As usual, he is probably the finest dress performer on the vaudeville stage, and is the personification of neatness throughout his entire act. He had two or three new songs this afternoon and some new talk, and made a big hit with his prizefight recitation at the finish. 22 minutes in one

Ten-Ichi & Troupe

In magical illusions. The opening of the act, the magical, by the young girl is simply repetition of what has been done by many three a day magicians here. The rope tying trick is very good and their water juggling at the finish is a great novelty. It is a very quiet act but while I think people liked it, it got very little applause. 28 minutes, 2 shows.

Sam Elton

Acrobatic Comedian. While his act was good, it was something of a disappointment as we didn’t get the screams of laughter, that the big ad in the Clipper led us to believe.

Little Clara Kirwin

this is a little Providence girl who sings a couple of coon songs and one other comic song, and on account of her local acquaintance is all right for us. I would hardly recommend her for the rest of the circuit. 10 min. in one, 3 shows.

Le Troup Fantastique

– this is an act entirely new given by the Lovenberg Sisters and one other girl. It is certainly a novelty and most pleasing to the eye, and in it it is introduced to some very fine step dancing. They carry their own scenery, which is of the weird Black Crook type, with dragons, etc., painted upon it, and have working eyes, spit steam from their mouth, etc. Mephisto is discovered and does an acrobatic grotesque dance. That’s his exit, Faust and Marguerite appear, and do a very fine waltz clog to the music of the waltz from “Faust”. Mephisto reappears, and they do a triple clog gavotte, at the end of which each does some solo dancing. As the finale, the three dance together, at which time the lights all over the house are out, and the costumes are illuminated by miniature lights fastened upon them. The costumes are very beautiful. The act is founded upon Faust, and is called “Faust in Terpsichore”, and the music is all taken from the opera “Faust”. 12 min. 2 shows, Full stage.
