Man and two attractive girls in a beautifully dressed and unusual scenic presentation of a dancing act. While the dancing is not particularly good, the act goes very well indeed, because of its method of offering. 15 minutes full stage.
Two men and one woman in an exceptional hand balancing act with some startling feats and a little suggestion of comedy. Man a big hit on this, their second appearance here, although they opened the show. 10 minutes full stage.
These people get quite a few laughs, but there is awful lot of old stuff in the act and it is decidedly cheap in its whole make-up. There is very little in it that applies to vacuum cleaning. They haven’t realized the possibilities from that source at all. 16 minutes. Full stage.
Decidedly the best artist in her line that we ever played. At Monday night’s performance Miss LaRue held the stage a full half hour without tiring the audience. The 16 year old boy at the piano is also a decided asset in the act. In one.
Assisted by Freddie Clinton. About as good a two-man act as we have played in long time. I want to say that with the exception of one joke which was not very bad, Morrisey gave us an absolutely clean act and he made the biggest kind of a hit. 22 minutes in one.
This is a novelty act. Comedy, singing, dancing, and some eccentric leg work by the man. As there has been some confusion as to the kind of an act these people do, the thought being in the minds of some of the managers that it is an acrobatic act, I want to say that there is practically no acrobatics in it. The man’s leg work smacks a little contortion. Otherwise it is all as described above – a variety sketch. 12 minutes open in full stage. Can close in one. Very good act.
Man given a little assistance by woman in a comedy juggling act. This is a corking good feature that could hold any spot on the bill. I consider this man in class with W.C. Fields, whom he somewhat reminds one of. His comedy is possibly not as good as Fields. His juggling is better. 15 minutes open in two. Short close in one.
Nine men in the regulation minstrel semi-circle. No doubt it cost Mr. Welch quite a lot to take his troupe around the country but I am sure we can get a better act, at least one the would give better satisfaction to our audiences, for considerable less money than we are paying him. 22 minutes full stage.
Should really be the Aki Quartette as there is a little girl in the act who sings and dances – not a small feature of the company. They do some excellent magical work of unusual order and up-side-down and backward writing. Very good act. 15 minutes full stage.
In an Irish sketch featuring Mr. Oakland’s singing “Far and Away,” the big applause hit of the show, although I hardly think it is an act that will draw us much money, and I don’t believe it is worth the salary it is getting. 20 minutes. Full stage.
