Miss Barry plays a chambermaid who having read a romance novel, is waiting for her hero. The scene is in the apartment of Lieut. Harry Montrose. The chambermaid delcares her love for him and he strings her along until he is summoned to meet his fiance. This “joke” leaves the chambermaid in tears. Mr.Wilson took advantage of comedy opportunities and Mr.Alden presented a manly looking officer.

Billy Johnson

“supported by four coloured girls, two of them being very light and the others of the medium shade.” Act opens on a jungle scene with the girls in “inappropriate Oriental garb” and Johnson in brown tights. Military number by the girls, the backdrop is a warscene. Ends with a ballroom scene with Johnson in evening clothes and the girls in multicolored princess gowns.

Harry Tate

No fault can be found with the chaffeur, the boy, the costermonger or the owner of the car. Absence of a snorting, puffing automobile is a missing feature.

Ada Overton Walker and Mrs. Matie McIntosh

Had eight coloured girls who “belied their description in looks.” “Walker is a comedienne of sable hue and presented a much better appearance in a dusky shade than the almost white girls around her.” Mrs. McIntosh assisted but Walked carried the act to success.
