Comedy Musical Act. One man working straight, the other in blackface. Open with cornet and trombone. Comedian sings a coon song and, after a little talk the straight man plays a solo on the cello. Finish with the prison duet from “11 Trovatoro.” Very ordinary act. Own drops in 1 & 2. Open in 1, 5 min, then to 2. Close in 1, 4 min. Time 19 min.
“The Clown’s Dream.” This act made the folks sit up and take notice this afternoon through the contortion work of one of the team, which, by the way, is the greatest I have ever witnessed. Act is fast and furious throughout and made a rattling closing feature. I believe this act will create talk enough in the town to pull people in to see it this week. Own set in 4. Time 16 min.
“Artistic Oddities.” Unquestionably the hit of the bill. Fox is a funny comedian and caught today’s audience right at the start and held them all through. A good act for any program. Street in 1. Time 19 min.
In “The Runaways.” Six people in a rural farce which kept the audience screaming with laughter all the way through. It is pretty long for a sketch and a rehearsal has been called for the morning to get the act down to a proper running length. A couple of the women are weak and amateurish and should be changed if the act expects the big time. Kitchen in 3. Time 29 min.
With Hazel Williams and Billy Seymour. Gus Sohlke’s familiar girl act with a new girl in place of Clara Belle Jerome. Miss Williams was suffering from a severe cold and extreme nervousness this afternoon which made it impossible for her to full justice to the part. Act went well with the audience, however, and seemed to please. Own set in 4. Time 22 min.
“The African Dodger.” One man working straight, the other blackface. Opening talk is a trifle old and should be brightened up with new material. The bulk of the comedy is to be had when the audience start throwing baseballs at the “dodger.” Went well with today’s audience. Own drop in 1. Time 15 min.
Comedy sketch, “Her Own Mother.” A farcical act with three people story is amusing and act is well played and seemed to amuse today’s audience. Not a pretentious thing but would get over in this spot in the “big” small-time houses.
Man and woman in a novel musical act in which they play various instruments, at the same time juggling huge spheres. Act is well dressed and a distinct novelty and made a good opening act. Open in 1, 2 min, then to 3, 9 min, close in 1, 3 min.
“Visions in Marble.” Two men and two women in a statue posing act that received hearty applause. Would prefer them earlier in the bill and have a strong comedy act to close with. Poses are well executed and act should prove a good feature anywhere. Can set in 4. Time 17 min.
Comedienne. Miss Barry received a warm welcome on her entrance this afternoon and she thoroughly succeeded in keeping the audience well entertained. Her songs went over in great shape and she took several bows at the finish. Olio in 1. Time 10 min.
