This team got many a laugh and proved themselves excellent comedy artists. They went well all the way and finished strong. Open street in one, go to C.D.F., close street in 1, 18 minutes.
The early numbers were fairly well received and the act gained in strength as it went along. The character number at the finish rounded things out nicely and made the finale strong. Went very well. Special set in 5, 17 minutes.
Singing comedienne. Her first two songs were moderately well received, and from this point on she became stronger and stronger, and finished in a distinctly favorable manner. She could easily have given another number. Olio in 1, 16 minutes.
Comedy sketch, “In the Subway”. One woman, four men. This act got along quite well and the work of Miss Black, her leading man and one of the two comedians was quite favorably received. There were moments when things lagged, but not for long at a time, and there were a number of real good legitimate laughs. The act seemed to hold the interest of the audience throughout but for some unaccountable reason didn’t finish very strong, although I believe it should have done so. The act was an acceptable comedy offering and I believe it will go better during the week. Special set in 5, 21 minutes.
Comedy hat juggler. He had a hard time getting them started, but finally caught on, won a lot of laughs and finished strong. 9 minutes, olio in 1.
Man and woman in a fairly good line of trapeze work. There was some slight evidence of approval and the finish was moderately strong. 8 minutes, garden in 5.
2 men, 1 woman. Instrumentalists. C.D.F. time 11. Woman does pianologue with fair, very low, voice, almost bass. The men are fair musicians and play a number of instruments. The act just got by.
A great dramatic act that held the undivided attention from beginning to end. Most capably portrayed in every detail. Finished strong and should cause a lot of comment owing to its intrinsic merit. 22 minutes, dark, fancy.
Big reception when he entered, which is “going some” when you play this town. He won a world of laughs and was a genuine hit all the way through. 19 minutes, street in one.
In a comedy skit, “A Stormy Finish”. This man is an excellent pianist and the woman a pleasing singer. The work of both was received with unqualified favor and the roughhouse finish of the act was a riot of laughter and applause. The act is away from the beaten path and pleased thoroughly. 21 minutes, C.D.F.
