3. Burlesque magic. Has added a dog to hid act – a bull pup. Has a few new tricks. Always presents a very entertaining three show act. Good act.
– 2 shows -9 mins. – Palace in Four- Although the girls apparently worked as hard as formerly, there was a decided drop in the value of the turn: Girls not so attractive as they were on former visit. They might have gone better have not as much dancing preceded them. Nevertheless a bunch of young and shapely girls is a good thing in any variety show.
two shows – 16 mins.-Own-Set—A “big” at from drawing standpoint, but hardly furnishes a “big” entertainment. This is not to say that the act was not received with laughter and applause at times; but lines and situations are not particularly notable. Vaudeville has advanced much since their former appearance in the business, while the team has not, perhaps, advanced at all.
2 shows – 6 mins- [?]arden in three- Employing to robel & Ruge revolving ladder idea, but the latter is on a stand on the stage. Their feats throughout are praiseworthy and unusually skillful, while their finish—the rungs of the latter dropping out and the sides go around separately—constitute one of the most exciting finishes in variety. This finish is rather of a sensational nature.
2 shows – 23 mins. Own set – Patrice’s big frame is employed; but the whole act is given inside the frame. The bridegroom sees several of his old sweethearts, the girls appearing alternately, one furnishing instrumental music; the other, singing. The living picture idea is employed to show a red cross nurse attending a soldier. The wind-up shows the bride herself, and she steps from the frame onto the stage. It is a “pretty” act, and affords a pleasing setting for the specialties of the sisters, making their work go better than it would without this spectacular outfit.
2 shows- 15 mins. Own drops-The only novel acrobatic specialty seen here in a long while; nothing better in the way of monkey impersonators; an act lively throughout, and provoked more laughter than does the average acrobatic turn.
Palace in 4. 12 minutes. Four men. New name and new faces to me. They started off with ball juggling and attempted the most difficult feats in this line of work. I am sorry to say they have not perfected themselves in this line of work. Fall downs marking every trick they attempted. When they worked into the acrobatic line, they did the ordinary line of work quite well and closed to very good applause but they are not good enough for a closing set and cannot be rated as a good 3-a-day act. 3 shows.
Plain chamber with their own drop. 20 minutes. In their familiar sketch “The Half Way House” which was well appreciated and was very well received with laughter and applause, enabling them to close very well. The sketch is put on quite artistically and they can care very well for this portion of the programme. 2 shows
Palace in 4. 10 minutes. A foreign singing and dancing act, principally dancing, which does not seem to be original or worthy of any particular praise. None of this three are able to talk English from the stage and the act was somewhat of a frost here this afternoon. Closed only to light applause and cannot be classed among the 2-a-day acts. 2 shows.
Drop in one. 16 minutes. This young man’s first appearance here. He is the possessor of a refined and pleasing singing voice, by which means he lands well in every song he sings, without apparently forcing his voice in the usual vaudeville style. He does a little monologue work which while not brilliant, is quite good and serves well to vary his work. At his salary he can be rated as very good and can be called quite good as a 2-a-day act. 2 shows.
