Ventriloquist. Garden 4, 17 min. A man who displays great ventriloqual [sic] ability and his line of talk enables him to make his work interesting. While we secured him only in time for our supper show his presentation gained him applause from the few auditors here at the time. His work will fill him nicely by closing in one. He has an act which may be valuable to us this week.
Drapery in one, 10 min. Miss King in this position failed to draw satisfactory applause from her auditors and did not seem to have the power to interest them satisfactorily. Her line of talk got some laughs and earned her a fair amount of applause but it is this position in the bill which is too much for her.
Wood in 4, 5 min. Everhart gained the first reception of the day and by his rapid and clever work and the assistance of two able property men gained applause throughout all of his show. His work with the hoops was very good and takes all others performing along this line to appear the most amateurish of amateurs. 2 shows.
CDF, 23 min, 5 min in one. The musical work was not very well received and the interest of the audience was not very great until Miss Fuller played the harp aided by her singing clever and late songs with a voice that had the ability to interest and which was very pleasing to her Auditors and brought from them considerable applause. The balance of the act went exceedingly well and enabled them to close and strong. 2 shows.
Garden in 4, 8 min. Opening with muscular posing which earned his a slight hand from which he progressed to bag punching feats. Unfortunately for him he followed the Royce Brothers to closely and his feats did not ellicit [sic] any amount of applause. In this position he is wrongly placed and we have exchanged him for Mitchell from the new house. 3 shows.
Drop in one, 11 min. Local boy and girl not more than 12 or 14 years of age. The pair were somewhat nervous during the first show and did not do themselves the justice we expected of them and know they can do. The dancing of the pair earned them stronger applause at the finish and in this position the act will be fully satisfactory. 3 shows.
Drapery in one. 13 min. Woman of very pleasing appearance with considerable vocal ability which gained a good bit of applause. The 2 Pickaninnies are hardly up to the standard set by Pickaninnies along this line of work and for this reason she did not close as strongly as her first appearance indicated she would. 2 shows.
CDF, 23 min. Two men and a woman. Both men as comedians and the woman brightening up the many bright spots of that humorous sketch by good trombone and bugle work. The dancing of Dick Hume was very satisfactory and they held the interest to the close and finished very strong, gaining 3 recalls which they acknowledged with bows alone. One of the best acts of the day.
Magician. Palace 2 – own set- 17 min. Very likely magician of very clever appearance but lacking manly voice, satisfactory to most of his auditors. He will open shows for remainder of week and can pass very satisfactorily at that time. His duplication of tricks performed by Ching Ling Foo and Ten Ichi’s thumb tying trick enabled him to gain some applause.
3 shows, 15 min, in 1. This man was so bad we cancelled him at once, notwithstanding as he had played New York and Philadelphia, and has some of the other houses to follow. He is coarse to the verge of vulgarity, has an unprepossessing personality, and there were some hisses for the worst of his rude jokes.
