Ruth Nelta

Drapery in one. 9 min. An attractive, well dressed girl billed as a coon song singer but who cannot sing. It may be that she was, and it did seem that she was suffering from a cold to-day, but if this is a fair sample of the class of work she offers she certainly cannot make good in the position she is now in she will be moved up for to-night and for the balance of the week. However, she gained a fair share of applause at the close. 3 shows.

Sylvano

Wood in 4, 11 min. European equilibrist whose work is of itself commendable and satisfactory to the audience to-day. He was handicapped, however by his property man who as the centre of the stage a good portion of the time but who did not seem to know his duties to-day, and some of his slow movements I feared would result in the act being guyed. Sylvano’s good work and clever electric lighting of the set enabled him to get by very satisfactorily and to close to really good applause. 2 shows.

Bean and Hamilton

Garden in 3, 10 min. 2 young men who seemed to impress the audience with their value and the aggressive manner in which they worked and their pleasing style. They did some difficult barrel jumping feats, not missing once, earning a considerable applause throughout the act and got applause at the close. They could easily hold down a better position in our bill. 3 shows.

John J. Desmond

Garden in 4, 10 min. This young man who played our show a couple of weeks ago returned to-day and got by with more satisfaction. This is doubtless due to the fact that he did not have to follow a bag punching act as he did on his previous visit. His muscular posing does not add any value to his act but his bag punching is rapid, clever and accurate. Gained considerable applause and closed to fair applause, even better than we expected. 3 shows.

Kennedy & James

CDF, 15 min, close in 1 – 5 mins. A skit that has played over the circuit and which has sufficiently criticised. It need only be added that little of their stuff was satisfactorily received to-day. While they extracted some applause there seemed to be no regret when the act closed. It might be called a fair opening act but nothing better. 3 shows.

Cushman, Holcomb and Curtis

24 min, 5 in one at close. Plain chamber in 3. Their familiar act ‘A Winter Session’ which did seem to raise the people to the point of applause, their familiarity with the act being no doubt the reason for this. Will move them up the bill tonight, changing their places with that of Kelly & Kent. 2 shows.

Walter Daniels

Drop in one, 13 min. Received a light reception, the first of the day. His act is a familiar one on the circuit, but this being his first appearance here, the first impression he made was good, being of good appearance and an intelligent and clever talker, able to entertain with talk the different impersonations, as well as with the impersonator, each one which was well received and enabled him to close very well. 3 shows.

Neil, McNeil & Co.

CDF, 21 min. In ‘A Hit of Nonsense.’ A sketch, the familiarity of the players with which was not apparent. Without doubt this being the first appearance on any stage was the reason for the defect. McNeil however, displayed considerable ability as a comedian. The girl is light for the part, she plays and while it cannot be classed among the good 2-a-day sketches it is probable that when it is strongly whipped into line it may be an addition to the acts that we are on the lookout for. 2 shows.

Eldora and Norine

Garden in 4, 16 min. Two men, one dressed as woman impersonator. Eldor’s juggling work being fully up to his satisfactory standard, the rapidity with which he works and the accuracy of his style earning him good applause and carrying him off in good shape. The comedy incident to act amounts to nothing whatever. 3 shows.

Edith Henney & Dorothy Knapp

Drop in one, 10 min. Two young Philadelphia girls singing two songs and closing with clog waltz dance, Each of the songs were very well received as well as the dancing. The act closed to good applause proved a satisfactory opening act. 3 shows.
