Helene Gerard

12 min. Water Landscape in 5. We understand this woman has three acts. Number one, which she is giving here; number two, where the cart and dogs are used; and number three, the best of all, in which the posing in the back drop is done. They were all given with the Barnum show, but on one week engagements, the simplest of three acts is presented. One of the Three Avolos is travelling with Miss Gerard as her husband or manager. She also has a French horse trainer, who claims to have trained horses for the Czar of Russia. This gentleman has two assistants. The number one act that she gave us to-day consists entirely of high school riding. She used two horses, working one at a time. They do they cake-walk, the waltz, and other fancy evolutions. The act went exceptionally well, and was applauded throughout, with curtain calls at the finish. The horses are well trained, and work without balking. The act made a real hit.

LeRoy & Clayton

Man and woman, in a comedy sketch ‘A Horse on Hogan.’ Sketch has little action, and depends entirely and clever and catchy dialogue. It is a mistaken identity affair, without any action, and wholly talk. Went very well, with laughs. Good act, but doubt if it is as strong as Gardiner & Vincent’s.

Edmund Day & Company

Own set, 27 min. A clever seacoast sketch by Day himself and presented cleverly enough to make it considerable of an addition to the sketches now reining in vaudeville. Both the men were strong but the girl seems too light and weak for her portion and could easily be improved upon. However they gained good applause at the close. 2 shows.

Laveen & Cross

CDF, 14 min. A pair of good looking, neatly dressed young fellows whose work is executed in a manner not indicative of great effort and so clever that they were applauded through out the whole act and the muscular posing of one of the team is appreciated and applauded better than any muscular posing that has been shown here in a long time. Most satisfactory act at this time which could stand a much better position. 3 shows.

Lynch & Jewell

18 min. First 9 minutes in one, then to CDF. The introduction of the Biograph drop for pictures for Lynch’s first couple of songs which he sings ‘Rube’ make-up proved a good starter, the peculiarity of the songs and the comicality of the pictures soon had his audience in a good humor and he won good applause. In the CDF, the lady is introduced and plays the piano for some clever dancing of Lynch’s. The whole act was satisfactory to-day and earned them good applause throughout. They can close in one. 2 shows.

Flood Brothers

Garden in 4, 8 min. Two acrobats one straight, the other in comedy makeup, whose act is familiar all over the circuit and it may be said that even in this difficult place on the bill they have not gone better in this house than they did today and made a very satisfactory closer for us today. Their acrobatic work is rapid and accurate gaining them applause throughout and strong applause at the close. 2 shows.

Emmett De Voy & Co.

CDF, 30 min. Two men and a woman in ‘The Saintly Mr. Billings.’ A new sketch well acted by the two principals. The sketck [sic] itself while introducing DeVoy as an intoxicated individual was productive of much laughter and the close won a sufficient amount of applause to recall them 3 or 4 times. It is easily seen that the sketck [sic] has been fashioned after the play ‘Jane’ and while it seemed to me that many of our patrons were familiar with this play and that this would injure this reproduction, I evidently mistaken as it was most satisfactorily received and could certainly get by as satisfactorily in any house on the circuit. 2 shows.

Poettinger’s Swedish Ladies Quintette

Own set, 14 min, 5 in one. Five attractive girls, possessors of good voices and of good appearance, wearing their national costumes and singing their national anthems, following them with a couple of songs in English and closing with a Swedish dance. Their opening song was well received and while they did not gain a great amount of applause they received some all through their act and closed satisfactorily. The act itself is interesting to the audience and its novelty will add to its value. 2 shows.

Charles Kenna

‘The Fakir.’ Street in one. 15 min. The act similar to that already played out over the circuit. While not a good singer his style was good and his talk was very much like that from an experienced extemporaneously speaker. While it was somewhat hard for him to get the audience up to his rate of speed as the beginning, before many minutes he had them following him well and closed to first rate applause. 2 shows.

Mr. & Mrs. Murphy

In ‘Why Doogan Swore Off.’ Plain chamber 22 min. This is a pair of performers who have previous to this time made a good impression here, presented sketch which seemed somewhat similar to that recently shown by John & Emma Ray. It did not give Murphy the chance to show his comedy talent, which is well known he is a possessor of. However, the act was greeted with considerable laughter and applause throughout and at the close, but it is not on a par with the previous sketch performed by them. 2 shows.
