Carlos Sebastian

Carlos Sebastian, assisted by the Myra Sisters, closed the first part. The dark-haired sister does herculean work as a dancing partner of Sebastian in the doubles and the other contributes some good solo work, pulling a toe dance and playing a violin simultaneously. At the finish, both in huntress costumes, are driven over hurdles by Sebastian as the Whip, with novel lighting arrangement giving a cinema effect that was a hurrah closing. The girls work like beavers and aid materially. Coupled with Sebastian’s showmanship, it made an unbeatable combination.

Lexey and O’Connor

Lexey and O’Connor, two good hoofers, were second. Miss O’Connor does some nifty jazzy eccentric stepping and Lexey is also a worthy knight of the hoof. She showed a couple of nice changes and handled two solo vocal numbers in good voice.

Everest’s Monkeys

Everest’s monkey vaudeville show had some rough going, opening at 11.10 on a humid night, but held the majority of the audience, who were well repaid for their patience.

Felix Bernard

Felix Bernard, author of “Dardanella,” plays accompaniments and feeds Jack Duffy’s nut warbling effectively, and the act was well received, finishing strongly with a hot of dancing.

Sissle and Blake

Sissle and Blake, colored men, do some harmonizing, play and sing “blues,” rag, jazz, etc.; also a serious number written by the late Jim Europe. The finished with Joe Goodwin’s latest ballad, “A Vacant Chair at Home Sweet Home,” and scored a hit.

Anderson and Yvel

Anderson and Yvel, roller skaters, do a ballroom dancing on the wheels and have changed their turn to include a burlesque Egyptian “dance” and also an Apache number. It is a very fast and sensational act of its kind.

“Look” (7).

6 Mini.; Full Stage. Mme Rialta presents this novelty. It was out some months ago as “Recredis” but since then has been considerably switched about and is now a smoothly working sight turn.’ A wide angle lens is employed to project colored pictures upon a white screen hung as a back curtain, this providing by sterepticon a series of changes in settings. There are six girls for the dances which call for several costume changes. Juva Marconi is featured and though the stage was in semi-darkness, to permit the projected pictures to stand out, Miss Marconi impressed as an exceptional dancer. She is lithe and in the matter of high kicking has few peers. The winter scenes and the dances looked the prettiest. At the finish curtains are drawn in about two for some striking effects of the futuristic kind.

Dorothy Shoemaker

Dorothy Shoemaker in her underworld sketch, “Kat,” was the dramatic moment closing the first part. This sketch has improved Immensely since seen in the preliminary stages and several of the present cast look new. It has been a surprise finish, although the basic Idea has been done in vaudeville… Miss Shoemaker as an Italian girl and later as the woman detective is splendid and she is capably supported. The act will hold interest anywhere.

Otto Bros

At the finish of this number one member -steps on the dame’s train and his trousers undergarment is revealed in the back of the skirt This and the singing was good for a howl. They make a comedy exit after one takes a fall, tripping over his skirts and being upset by his awkward partner. The crossfire is all funny and both get the character across the footlights with a natural-ness that appeals. This act should open up a new field for the former exponents of the slurring ess’s and should develop into one of vaudeville’s best comedy turns.

NAT NAZARRO JR. and BAND (6).

20 Mins A cyclorama and special drop appropriately dress the stage. Following a brief recitation in “one” Nat goes right to his dancing which is followed by a jazz number by the musicians. A double song and dance with the girl is next, the tatter leaving him alone for his “cane” dance, featuring the sliding split and “hoch” steps. The girl does a dancing solo neat, featuring some nifty kicks of the front and back variety… Nazarro’s solo on the cello and then leads his jazzers in accompanying the male singer from the box in a bit that stopped the act cold, but would get just as much with the latter on the stage. More dancing solos by both he and his partner topped off by his eccentrique, which Includes the “rolling split” and reversed “nip up” creating a young riot and clogging up the show for numerous bows and a speech.
